Any body out there ride this bike, and have ridden it to, compare it the monster???

thoughts and opinions would be nice.  The two bikes are about in the same ball park range in price.  Just wanted to know about the good and the bad about the Aprilla.

didn't that just come out?

I swore I read about it in a mag... like... not even a month ago.

it's prettier than a 696  ;)

I bought one, and had it for a few months, however due to an injury the particular ergonomics of the shiver exacerbated (very wide saddle and tall bike I sold about two months later.

Hands down the best Aprilia I've owned (still have a tuono) plenty of power, it's got a trimap so you can change the fuel injection mapping by flipping a toggle, sport, touring and rain. The throttle by wire is indistinguishable from cable and a smoother operation. I dearly love the bike, well made and just  agreat ride.

I've test ridden for half hour a monster 696, perhaps not quite as powerful but still a wonderful bike (I've owned two monsters in the past m750 and m800 as well as a 996 and 748.

All things being equal I would go with the shiver.

Do a search on AprilliaForums.com, lots of info there.
I liked it but it's pretty tall and a dog in anything but the sport mode.

Felt faster than a 696 and the handling on the Shiver was better

thanks for the info guys.  Looked at the specs on paper and was curious about the ride height.  Since I have m750 and I'm kinda short it might put itself out of the running when I get a new bike.  I'll have to go find one first to sit on and go from there.

More opinions guys please.

I have not ridden it, but I'll tell you that the seat is wide and hard!  I considered the Shiver before I bought my S2R 1000.  But after sitting on it, I knew it wasn't for me.  I am 5'9" and I can't sit on it flat footed.  That concerned me a bit...

It was in Motor Cyclist I think.  I read that article.  They seemed pleased with it ~

i've ridden my flatmates Shiver... very impressive bike! handles very well, you basically ride it in a very upright position. It has a very light clutch and is so easy to move in and out of traffic. Lots of power as well.... makes you forget how fast you are going as it is so easy to ride.

Damn high though, i'm 1,79 and i struggled...

would i by it as oppose to a monster? no way! too easy to ride, feels like a scooter. I prefer knowing when im going fast that i am going fast! If you like a bike with a modern design, then ok, but it think it is quite ugly.

My flatmate swears he gets people everyday telling how nice his bike is... we live in Rome, Italy... so that is a big compliment for the bike.

soon i will take it on a very long ride to really understand the bike.

I prefer a slower heavier monster that is slightly more comfortable and heaps more sexier!

I had seriously considered a Shiver, but I did not have the opportunity to see one in person.  The nearest dealer was two hours away (strike one).  There have been build problems requiring warranty service, which would suck being 2 hours from the dealer (strike two).  Over the last few years, getting Aprilia parts has been quite difficult (strike three).

I like how the bike looks, the HP/tq numbers, and the larger stature of the bike.  There is a lot of information including 696 v. Shiver ride comparisons on the AF1 Racing site:  http://www.af1racing.com   Check out the forums there.   [thumbsup] If the V4 from their SBK trickles down to the Tuono, I may be a customer in a few years.   [evil]
My rides:  2009 M696, couple of cages, a few grass eating get-alongs, and some asics.

I took one for a test ride. Very easy to ride and boy it handled great. I'm 5'11" and had no problems at all with height. I could easily flat foot it. Fantastic bike.
