I am looking for a good pair of textile over pants that I can spend under 200 bucks for to commute back and forth to work.  Anyone have any recommendations.

Thanks,

Triple J

Under $200 --> Joe Rocket Alter Ego

Just over $200 --> Aerostitch Darien

I have both. The JR ones are pretty nice, but for them to be waterproof you have to install a separate liner...PIA. They are nice in warm weather though. The Dariens are awesome year-round, and waterproof, but they cost more and can be a little warm in summer. Not a big issue here in Seattle though. The Dariens come with better armor.

Firstgear HT overpants.

I have them and they're warm, dry and have OK padding. They're easy on and off and can fold up and fit in a backpack.

Would you care to expand on this a little?  I am looking at the JR Ballistic 7.0 right now... ???

I have the 5.0 and they are probably the cheapest things I ever seen besides keeping me legs from getting a little cold they are not worth the material that they are made out of.  Just poorly poorly made that is why I am looking for new pants.  I can not say anything about the 7.0 but the 5.0 are not very good

Tourmaster "caliber" pants.

I like the availability of leg length options.

The fit is perfect. I'm 6'2" and I got an xl tall.
Gaspar, Melchior and Balthasar kicked me out of the band..... they said I didnt fit the image they were trying to project.

So I went solo.  -Me

as much as I like newenough.... I ordered mine from the motorcycle superstore and got them a few bucks cheaper, and with free shipping (plus they tossed in a magazine)  ;)

MotoGP but I can't remember the model name. Got them on closeout from New Enough. I think MotoGPFan has/had the same model so maybe he remembers the model name. Convenient full leg double ended zippers make them a breeze to get on/off but the double zipper stops just short of me being able to reach my waist pockets w/o raching down the top of the pants. It's convenient for getting at cargo pockets though. They're nicely water proof and very toasty in winter. Taking out the liner I can run them in 90 deg CA summer on the freeway. On surface streets they get toasty.

The end is in sight! Gotta buckle down and get to work!

Yeah I was going to order them from another sit as well. One other question I wear a size 38 pants and would like to wear them over jeans or a pair of khaki's to work do you order the size you normally wear or do you go up a size or two?

Thanks,

Panthro
