Drilling pushrod

So I finally got my parts back to put my bike together. Yoyodyne gave me a new piston under warranty even though the old one was still pretty much OK. My old extender pill was totally dead though and I couldn't get it out of the old piston. I swapped out my old throw out bearing but the old one didn't seem damaged. I'm wondering what else could have caused the push rod to drill my slave cylinder. Here's some pics of the push rod. Is there supposed to be a groove on the right side? There are metallic specs in the grunge on the push rode. Also, when I hold the push rod and spin the clutch by hand it feels like there's grit causing intermittent friction between the push rod and the basket. Think I should be getting a new push rod?

The push rod is not designed to rotate, best to start from there, I would change that rod, the wear indicates it has been rotating. There are only two possible sources of rotation 1. If the rod was binding in any way on the bore of the countershaft (bent?) or most likely the pressure plate, the bearing here is designed to prevent rod from rotating as long as the bearing friction is less than the stiction of the rod.  Put in a NEW bearing in the pressure plate. Run a bore brush through the countershaft, check the bore in the case on the sprocket side where the rod fits, the O rings on the rod fit here and it could be worn due to the rotation. Fit new O rings on the rod.

I would also check that the clutch hub and basket are securely fastened, any movement here will place a load on the rod and could cause it to rotate.

What's a bore brush? Sounds like a pipe cleaner. Clutch basket and hub are OK. I had the hub nut come loose on me about a month and half ago and got it right this time.

Think it could be a bad bearing on the driven gear?

Think it's OK to run on while I order a new push rod?

The loose cluth hub is what caused the wear to your push rod (and trashed your slave), it got called upon to maintain the concentricity of the hub to the shaft.
With everthing tight, you should be OK 'till you get the new rod.
Just check and make sure the rod does not rotate with the clutch.
If you suspect the bearing check it out.

Bore or barrel brush you should be able to get from a gunsmith
