What is the difference between 06,07,08  monster sr2  1000's? Just paint?

Duc Fever

Well I know '07 is when the 50% less service costs started being touted ;D

Hello and welcome to the DMF.   Some tech savy folks will be along in a minute (I believe Brad Black has commented on some differences between 06 and 07 one thousand motors).

In the meantime, it's polite to start here:      Introduce Yourself

Well, there is no '08 S2R1000, there are M1100 and M1100S, though.

Speeddog...I've been accused of being stuck in a time warp before so I could be wrong but isn't the M1100 a new for '09 model?  I thought the S2R1000 was still offered this past summer but the 800 was cancelled.

Not that I know anything about it for sure but didn't the pre- '07 S2R1000's get away without the closed-loop emission system hence they don't suffer from the intermittent surging and high idle problems of the newer bikes?

Duh...I'm slipping... I just worked on one.
That's what I get for looking at ducati.com.  [bang]

Yeah, '08 S2R1000 is listed as far as the parts catalogues are concerned, but doesn't show in the '08 Monster page. Weird. or not.  :P

'06 S2R1k is a closed-loop bike.

No one loves the big 2v anymore!!!!!

The S2R1k is brand new for 2006, and has an O2 Sensor.

Technically speakinig there is a difference ECU wise between the 06 and 07/08 models (assuming 07 and 08 are the same). What the exact difference is, i cant tell you, but what i can tell you is, the Rapid Bike Unit that works for the 06 model will not work for 07+. The 06 RB O2 emulator will work for 06, but not 07+. when you unplug the O2 sensor, the light does not go on the 06 (however for a particular member, his check engine light did go on, i think he might have an 07 ecu), for the 07+ models they go on.

Any other differences im not aware of. Someone else can chime in.
