Is there a way to "fix" the kickstand issue on the '02s?

I have an '02 Monster that won't start unless the kickstand is up, which while a great safety feature can be annoying, when I need to let the bike warm up........... is there anyway to turn this feature off?

on my old Ninja, I would start her up and let it warm up while I put my gear on, which saved me a few mins

AFAIK, there's a wiring kit to eliminate the 'won't run in neutral with the stand down' restriction, but keeps the rest of the functionality.

Or, you can solder the two wires together, but then you can ride off with the stand down.

I think that's all the options.

There used to be a kit on ebay (probably still is) that was easy enough to instal and it allowed it to run only in neutral, so it kept the safety aspect.  Speeddog mentioned that, but I figured I'd add it was on ebay.

I think that is the best bet.

yeah... If you go the wire soldering route watch out for those first left handers and speed bumps if you forgot to put up the kick stand. They can be really surprising.  :(
