Hey all, new here and have been reading for a while.  I posted in the intro room last week and wanted to check in for some thoughts.  I purchased my bike last week (07 S4Rs, 1600 miles w/full Termi system ) but it seems it's running rich.  The previous owner bought it from the Ducati dealer stating that all the mods were done by the dealer for the original previous owner (I'm the 3rd and last as this bike is amazing), but didn't have the paperwork.  I'm going to call the dealer tomorrow to see if they have any VIN records and also to set up a appt to see if they can adjust the bike.  Can anyone tell me where the ECU would be, as I'd like to make sure that it is the DP ECU that comes with that system.  It does have a open airbox and the filter that looks like the one that comes with the system, so I'm sure it's all there.  One last thing, should this setup run rich?  Thanks again and I look forward to chatting with you all!  [beer]

most people have said it runs on the rich side. So it is very likely/possible its a tad rich.

the ecu is locted on the terminal side of the battery. I dont think it distinctively says it is a DP unit. it is labeled as a normal ecu. but you can double check the serial numbers just to make sure. The serial is posted somewhere on this forum. lol

Other then that weclome!

My bike is an 06 early model and the DP ECU said "Multistrada" on it. The just reflashed a stock ECU.

I think most the DP S4RS units are tuned on the rich (safe) side.  35 mpg is probably the best gas mileage you'll get too.

Enjoy though. It's a hell of a good bike. [moto] [moto]

CO trim can be adjusted by your dealer on the DP computer.  I would suggest 4.5%.  TPS should be checked at that time also.

don't be surprised if the ECU is a multistrada as has been mentioned.   They reflash as needed.   Your dealer can tell you if it's the right one...but if the other stuff is there it is unlikely that a previous owner took just the dp ecu.

yup...rich...makes some eyes water of riders behind you.

It's still buy a flounder a drink month

And once you have the TPS & CO% set you will find it is STILL a bit too rich. BUT, you can add a PCIII on top of it and get it dyno'd to be perfect!  [thumbsup]

Thank you all for the replies!   I just spoke to the dealer and they pulled the VIN and it showed all the records for it, and they did do the entire setup and mtc so far.....

On the PCIII note, is that something you buy with a general mapping and have the dealer tune it or is it good out of the box?

You can approach it 2 ways. Load a map from the website and make adjustments your self (time consuming and not perfect) or have it dyno'd (get the dual map, per cylinder) and at a certified Dynojet facility it should come out perfect!

Mine was rich enough that it was a bad idea to start it in the garage (door open of course). I always back it in so the exhaust faces inside. Eye watering to say the least.
I'm here to kick a*! and chew bubble gum...and I'm all out of bubble gum.

LOL, I can completely understand that.  I have to move it out to start it but then I can share it with the neighbors, so it all works out!   [evil]
