Man, I was cruisin the Ducati sight, drooling over the new pearl white 1198 and Streetfighter.  Then I made the mistake of clicking on the monster tab and felt my heart sink when there was no SR in the line-up.  I knew it was coming, but just hate to see it.  I think that I am really sad.

yeah, I read that earlier on another site that the Monster line will be all 2v and "traditional" (696, 1100, and 1100S) whereas the Streetfighter line will take up the 4v line which basically pushed the S*R line out the door.

Guess that will make our S*R versions collectors in about 15 year!  LOL
This has been a test of the Emergency Broadcast System.

Ride it till it dies, I guess!  Although a Streetfighter in the garage may be able to offload some of the monsters mileage and prolong its years of service.

And I'm sure yours will be in pristine shape too since you don't ride it!!

Maybe mothballing a '07 S4Rs w, 7 dealer prep miles and then having it trailored home where it has been since it was delivered was a good idea.

My other '07 has 4431 miles on it so I must make a decision one of these days since I tend to ride the 1098R now ( 2801 miles )  and the '07 BMW K1200S only has 2200 miles.

Perhaps I'll trade the 2 -S4Rss, the BMW and hopefully not too much $$$ in 2010 on hopefully then the next generation Superbike.   Dolph

Well I "posed" on my bike for about 13000 miles last year, in the cold and the rain, so I doubt it is gonna be worth that much.  I wouldn't expect much hype out of the 800's anyway.

I loved the S2/4R bikes since the first time I was a photo and after two years of owning one still love the look.
The new Monster 1100 is SO SWEET in the mechanical side with better brakes, the S Option and a bigger torquier motor PLUS the FI with dual sensors will probably be a big improvement in that area
BUT it just doesn't do it for me on the visceral side of the equation.
It just seems soooo mainstream in a new trendy sort of way...

Guess I will stay the course with mine and continue to mod it.

If Ducati would have stuck that new motor & FI in the SR frame and given it a S option there would be one sitting in my garage as quick as I could decide what to do with my 06 sell/keep

Well, It makes a little more since now (in my mind at least).  I assume it was to make way for the new Streetfighter.  It looks really good, but I am curious as to what speed the mirrors help you achieve lift off.

Yep, gone-o :'(   Look on the bright side.  It'll give all of us Monster owners something new to drool over.  Good or bad I think its a brilliant marketing ploy.  Give the guys who have Monsters something new to lust over, read Street Fighter then give the potential Ducati owner (read new bike owners) newer looking designs, e.g 696 and the 1100. A crystal ball reader might surmise a superlight 848 Street Fighter (w/dry clutch) in the not so distant future.  Now that would be sa-weeet  [evil]

They fold in at speed and flap in your face. I'm not even kidding. [laugh]

is that some sort of bunny? or a demon ???

S*R was just single sided swing arm monsters..just because the designation wasnt there, the new 1100 monster is basically an S2R1100 isnt it? there just isnt an S4R since it uses an SBK frame.
2006 Ducati S2R1100 Yea.... stunttin like my daddy CHROMED OUT 1100!!!!
