Hey,
I have started to see a few Ducati's, other then mine, turn up here in Lubbock.  A 1098, A sport classic, and some monster I can't Identify.    If anyone's on here from Lubbock, or the surrounding area, holler at me.

I'm not from Lubbock but that was a huge win on Saturday. What a wild game.

I rode through there not too long ago. I live in Wichita Falls, and my sister lives in Leveland, so I pass though when I go to see her.

It's only me and some random Hypertard I see every so often here in WF. I never been able to track the dude with the HM down though.

Tech has been having an amazing season.

Why would anyone choose to stay in Levelland.  I use to have to drive out their everyday.  It's a horrible place.

Here, I am going to holler:

Get the F out of there.  Run.  RUN!

:)  I keeeed, and I do so as a former resident.  I was at Tech for part of the Spike Dykes era.  I do not miss the dust storms, and the smell of the pastures that wafts over the city periodically, and farmer drivers, and trust fund kids at Tech, and the drive to The Strip.  But I *do* miss One Guy from Italy, and penny pitcher nights at Bash's (it's been a while since I have lived there)  Lubbock is still the cheapest place I have ever drank, including border towns :)

Bash's has... Character.   A lot like Lubbock.

I've lived here for 7 or 8 years, but I'm originally from Oklahoma.  I grew up hunting and fishing, and just generally spending my time in the woods and hills.  Out here it's just flat and various shades of brown.  They always talk about how beautiful the sky is.  They have sky everywhere, that's code for Don't look down.

The first time I saw a dirt storm... and it's still the worst one I have seen.  The sky turned dark orange.  Debris was flying everywhere, you have sand in your closed mouth, inside your closed house.   Then it started raining mud.   I thought it was the end of the world.

The first time I visited Lubbock was my TTU orientation trip - I remember coming coming in for a landing at Lubbock International (ha!), and seeing miles and miles of dusty nothing.  I grew up in the piny woods of East Texas - what it lacked in geography it made up for in green.  Brown would take some getting used to.
All the freshmen at orientation made quick friends, and proceeded to find a place to drink.  On our way back from one of the handful of bars that seemed to cater exclusively to underage drinkers, I saw what I thought was most surely a Natural Light-induced hallucination - a tumbleweed rolling across 19th street.  Welcome to Lubbock, I thought to myself.

I give Lubbock a hard time, but it is a good place, filled with good people.  Good luck finding some fellow Monster riders [thumbsup]

you make a good point  [laugh]

I tell her the same thing. Her husband is a crop duster though, and business is good out there. I, myself can't stand it though. I don't even like wichita falls, which is somewhat less flat, but not enough for me.

I'd say we should do a DMF meetup somewhere inbetween, but there is NOTHING inbetween wichita falls and lubbock

Well... Wichita Falls does have one thing going for it.   An awesome freeway system.   Probably the most unique one in the country.

The S4Rs Tricolore described in the thread at:

is in Lubbock.  A really old super senior rider bought it and brought it home from Houston and gave it to himself for his birthday and already has received a ticket for 94 in a 70.  He is now shopping for a mount for the Valentine 1 he keeps on his BMW K12RS and will switch the detector between bikes.  It was lust at first sight and it is quickly transforming into a sincere love. Of the many bikes owned in the past 35 years, this one is really special.
