Great sport and exercise. [thumbsup] Wish I could do more of it but physical issues get in the way. I miss it terribly. :P But I have fond memories of rides and races that will last me a lifetime. [beer]

you can't do a recumbant bike? I see lots of old people pumpin away on those all the time on the rail trail here by work.

It's a completely different ball game from the double diamond frame racers to the recumbent.  I've been riding racers for 40 sumptin years. Tried my friends recumbent. Don't know that I could make the switch full time.
No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.

I realize it is different...I also realize it is lot friendlier to the aging ergonomic needs of an individual and can be much easier on certain specific joints while still allowing for a generally rigorous workout if chosen.

I think the recumbant bikes are kinda stupid. I know they have their fans but I'm not one of them. I'll just wait until I can afford all the surgical repairs I need then I'll get back up on my mtn bikes and Colnago C-50. [thumbsup] It's not saying much but I'm more coordinated on two wheels than two feet. [laugh]

OK, this is contributing to thread drift, but... I find recumbent bikes interesting but ultimately unsatisfying -they just don't do the things that feel best on a bicycle like climbing or sprinting. It might be fun to try one of those super-low tricycle 'bents just to see how fast I could go. But every time I've seen one oncoming on the road or bike path, I can't help myself - I wonder if could bunny-hop it. I really, really shouldn't, but one of these days, I just might try...

OK, back to Mr. Elbowz.

I agree. [thumbsup] As I said, they have their fans. I'll let it go at that.

It's cool to see Spies so caught up in cycling. Bostrom is pretty damn good too! In a mtn bike kind of way. He's turned in some damn impressive race results. [clap]

Here's some thread drift...

Of course there's that other guys bike

And his old rig...

And them other-other guys...

I just cant bring myself to do one this year for the Doctor...  I'm sorry but while I love the guy and think he's easily the GOAT, yellow on Red is just wrong unless you're the Spanish World Champ...
