i think it's great.

they are a tiny company and there are plenty of people who DON'T ride who think ducatis are cool and want one.

besides, people like me who work in an office who can't ride to work (in a suit) need something to show some love.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

How many people have heard complaints about Ferrari "selling out?" They're one of the most recognized names in the world, largely responsible for the popularity of F1, and yet, it all allows them to build the most drool-worthy cars there are. If it works for Duc the way it works for Ferrari, I'm all for selling out.

The bad thing about this one is, this bicycle didn't cost much less then my S2R.

I bet you that HD makes more money off all the junk they have branded than the actual bikes they sell.  The money that can be made off a mark up for some of this stuff is hard for many companies to resist.

I dig all the DUCATI branded stuff ;)  [beer]

There is some of the TUMI brand luggage at my local TJ MAXX store (in UTAH!) ... But I still can't afford it :(

most high-end bikes are expensive.

my uncle is a serious bicyclist, logs about 100 miles in a week.  his bike cost him $18k.  made of some whacked out space age materials and has no weld seams at all.  looks like a single piece of forged alum-magnesium frame.  wheels are carbon fiber.  the whole bike i can lift with 1 finger.  absurdly light.

As the OP I find it interesting where this thread has gone. There is not one post here (Including my original post) that went negative about Ducati branded products. Yet there a re a good portion of the posts defending the practice against no specific criticism. ???

Oh well I guess it's the times we live in (or maybe the streetfighter thread [evil])

Just for the record I am a consumer of the Ducati brand

got one of these two days after they became available, even though it's a little bulky for a thumb drive

My Helmet

My Jacket

My girlfriend bought this for me at TJMax

Not to mention about $300 worth of shirts, caps etc I purchased up at Santa Barbara Ducati this summer

I don't quite understand this beef with 'selling out'.

Ducati has a brand that holds a certain romantic allure. They want to make money. They're a small company. Who cares?

Some people own Ducati motorcycles. Some people (with more money than sense evidently) own merchandise that says 'Ducati' on it. If that makes Ducati a couple bucks, great.

I've got no copies of it, but live in Bloomington and recreate the movie once in a while, lol  ;D

Oh, except the part about being a good cyclist!
