Those 0.9 springs should be about right for you at 180#.

Curious what they mean by a 15mm preload spacer... RaceTech springs are shorter than stock, by *far* more than 15mm.

Sounds Great!
I think I'd try lowering the oil level also.
This is a common offroaders fine tuning trick.
The air acts as a progressive spring and the more airspace you have the less progressive it is.
Lowering the oil give you more airspace so it while it will remain pretty much the same the first halve of travel the last halve is where it will have an effect.
Lowering the oil level will not effect the sag.

Most people add 5-10mm of oil with good results. Once your budget goes north of $1000, why not send the forks to Ohlins and have them gut them and install one of their supersport packages?

Thanks Speeddog, you're right on both counts....

I backed-off the compression damping 3 clicks, and now I'm using almost the full range of travel.  [thumbsup]

I re-read the data sheet that they gave me.  My bad, they define preload as the amount that the sping is compressed when installed, not the length of the spacer.  I have no idea how long the spacer is, but the spring is compressed ~15mm.

Right now I have the preload adjustment set for minimum, the rebound adjustment is set 8 clicks out from maximum, and the compression adjustment is 11 clicks out from maximum.  I don't have a good measurement for sag, its kinda hard to get a good measurement with less than 2 helpers.

Now about those Penske shocks.... their web-site recommends a 7" spring @650 lbs/inch.  Does this sound about right?

Sold: 2007 S2R1000 for canyon carving and commuting - DP ECU, PCIII, BMC air filter with open box, Zard full exhaust, Race-tech fork internals, Ohlins steering damper, and a Penske 8987 triple clicker

2000 996XU (extra ugly) for track days - BST carbon wheels, Ohlins shock, reworked fork, FBF exhaust, and a bunch of megacycle rocker arms. The rest of it is junk - Hey, I'm just happy that it runs...

Sold: 2002 Aprilia RST1000 for touring - De-restricted airbox, Taylormade Racing exhaust

Glad it's working better after some adjustment.  :)

As far as the shock spring goes, I'll check my charts when I get to the shop.

Not too sure about the spring.  I had bought my Penske from Traxxion Dynamics and they took all my info and provided me with the entire unit.  Unlike my forks, I have not even adjusted the Penske as it feels really good.   [clap]
