What am I supposed to do with my fastlane / speedpass thing?

You know, the transponder for paying tolls on the highway.  I have it sitting in the map pocket of my tank bag, and I think it scans probablly 50% of the time.  I haven't got a ticket yet... I'm guessing that my plate location isn't visible to the camera (thank you fender-eliminator.)

I've got the stock bikini fairing on my 696, but I'm not entirely sure that there's room to wedge that thing in between the clear part and the instrument "cluster"

Has anybody come up with a good solution for this that isn't a huge pain to remove?  ...I need to be able to pull it off and put it in my car as well.

I leave mine in my jacket pocket. I have one for the car and bike. The bike one is supposed to be stronger than the car one. The lady at the office told me that most people leave it under their seats or in their saddle bags.
Our toll lanes have a light that flashes if it doesn't pick up your sensor.

I think the one I have needs line-of-sight to the receiver.  As far as I know, it's a passive transponder... ie no battery, so I don't think they can really make a stronger one.. i could be wrong on that.  Maybe Mass is behind the times or something.

This was a bigger biatch than I realized. I went across the bay bridge over the weekend so I had to use my transponder. I used my work badge holder for the transponder. As I got closer, I unzipped my jacket, pulled it out and it did the trick. But it was a pain as it was slow and go the entire time time to the toll.

Here in Massachusetts, drivers do some seriously unpredictable and erratic shit, especially around the tolls.  It's not uncommon to see a guy cut over 4 lanes to get to a tollbooth with a line that's 1 car shorter.  I want to keep the fiddling to a bare minimum, and have as much control over my bike.  I'm thinking about building something that clamps to my fork or something...  I wish there was something that was purpose-built out there.

I have no suggestions on where to place it, but a suggestion that may save you some $$$.

See if you can get a dedicated moto pass.   

We have them here in NY and the toll is discounted 50% for motorcycles.  It saves me $10-$20 a year.   [moto]

evidently you are not familiar with the state of Taxachusetts.  This would be the place with the Big Dig & tolls that double every other year.

As long as your license plate is registered with fastrak, if you go through the bridge tollbooths without the transponder, it just takes a picture of your plate and matches it up to your account.

Cool, thanks for the tip! It's currently registered to my now totalled Honda Insight. Wow, it just dawned on me that both my Honda and my '58 Vespa were both victims of left hand turning cages. I guess both cage and bike were about the same size, so...
