Hey Danber, I just painted my cans and heat shields as well.  I don't know if you are aware of this, but rustoleum also make "High Heat ULTRA".  I bought a can of both and tested them.  the ultra has a semi-gloss sheen that matches the frame, etc.  much better than the flat finish of the other paint you used.  I don't know if you knew this or if you care, I just thought I'd mention it in case it's something you'd be interested in.  By the way, the Ultra was $6 dollars a can, not $3 or $4 like the regular.

Thanks for the tip. I didn't know about the other kind of paint, but I might give it a shot. The matte black color that my cans currently have is pretty decent, but it is a lot flatter than any of the other black colors on the bike. I'm hoping that these painted cans will only be temporary until MotoCreations comes out with a set of boom tubes for the 696. I think that's the direction that I'd like to go with the exhaust.

If you can put up some pictures of your painted cans with the other kind of paint I'd really like to see that.

here you go!  the can on the left is the regular rustoleum high heat and the exhaust cans are painted with the  "ULTRA".

this is the regular paint compared to frame

and the ULTRA compared to frame

Pretty good match for six bucks a can!  Hope this helps! [thumbsup]  I'm installing the cans this morning so I'll post a pic of it all together later today.

DanBer, I would suggest to try a carbon fibre slip-ons of your choice, (don't waste your money on the 696 termi system like I did) and jet-hot coat the rest of your exhaust parts black.

The other option is anodize the covers black. Never chip, almost impossible to scratch and extremely heat resistant.

I like that look

TAftonomos

only problem with the anodizing is it WILL turn purple after prolonged exposure in the sun.  Purple cans  [laugh]
