Can brackets for mounting GIVI bags to 2000-01 Monster be made to fit '97 M750??

I found a set of luggage brackets for the 2000 & 20001 Monster to fit Givi saddlebags. Does anyone know if these can be modified or adapted to fit the 1st generation M70?
