No red key + code card for newer Duc?

Hello,

During my research for my next Duc, I've been informed that newer Duc do not come with the red key and code card.  Is this true?  I know that we need them (never have to use them) for programming the immobilizer.  If they do away with that type of security, what does Ducati do with the security option nowaday?

Thanks for your input.

If by newer you mean 696, I can't answer that.

But S*R models definitely still have the red key.

There's no red key, but you do get the code card.

Yep, no more red key.

I got my 848 in Dec of last year and was surprised when they delivered just 2 black keys and the code card.

Looking at a used HM and seller is telling me Ducati is not supplying red key nor code card.  So I'm trying to figure out if I'll be missing somethign or not.

Thanks.

Just call a dealer and ask what it's supposed to come with.

The 696 comes with two black keys - no red key - and the code card.

Perchance you who pronounce my sentence are in greater fear than I who receive it.

Does this mean the gauges and ECU are no longer married?

The keys and gauges are married.
The ECU will not "unlock" without "permission" from the gauges.

No red keys on Hypers.

But there's still a code card, so that's missing.

ECUs are no longer married... you can use 1098, 848, Hyper, etc... ECUs on multiple bikes.

Code card is still VERY important though.

Yeah, don't touch that Hyper unless the dealer gives you a code card.
If it's got two wheels and a motor, I like it!
