DML bans

I have not been able to log in since the change either. I emailed asking for a password reset twice and never got a reply. Did a little searching tonight and found home. Thanks for getting the new board running!

I'm just a welder who can barely use a computer, but it seems like a poor way to increase your membership. I recognize some of the banned names & that alone make me wonder if I should even visit the DML site.

That is a fundamental flaw. they are trying to corner a market that cannot be cornered.

"lets buy all the forums and stuff em full of adds"

does not work the same as buying airtime on TV. sure people can turn the channel, but their bound to see another add.

with the internet, if they make the beast with two backs up our forum, we move. start again. with help from a few tech savy peeps it's easy to set up a board.

TV stations are tougher.

they have badly misjudged their market and they will lose lots of money because of it.

I disagree with your TV airtime analogy. 

Here's why:

Well, not a lot of forums have a close community like we do.  VS has been successful, very successful at buying forums, making a change and raking in the cash. 

They just didn't listen to all the warnings about changing the DML.  Now they know not to make the beast with two backs with us

Why have so many people been banned from the new DML? I'm still cruising around there & keep finding long time members that have never been anything but polite & helpfull, being banned. sup?

I was kicked off for bad language. I used no foul words what so ever. Im most likely done there. Im going to call a few of the vendors that advertize there and let them know that I will not be using them ever again because of that board.

TOB has removed my avitar and signeture. they have restricted my acces to my profile. I can not make changes. The DML is dead. Im done.

I received a letter begging me to come join the fun and write a story about my monster and maybe  I'ld win an oil change or something like that. I have never tried to log on, I have lurked once to see what it was like and to see if I recognized anybody's name since I didn't know where everyone had gone . I felt like I should get out of that site quickly before I cotracted some kind of STD or something. There was this kind if fishy smell about the place.

That's exactly the tactic to take. They have placed themselves broadly with the express purpose of being middlemen for advertiser access.  It's those advertisers that are paying their checks, and those dumb enough to be paying members of a VS site.  In order to hurt VS, all opposed to them from all the sites these cyber-Borg have assimilated must go after those advertisers.  Make it fully known to them that no purchase of product or services will happen as long as they have a relationship with VS. Then back up the threat by NOT buying.  You have to make them hurt first. Given enough losses they should seperate from VS. Ultimately VS will run out of money and either be sold themselves or fold. I'd love to see them dry up and blow away.

I saw all the *************.org posts before I stopped lurking around there. If this site was paying them money they'd allow the links. As long as they're making a dime off anything/everything that goes on there they are happy.  You all should have easily seen last year what was going to happen and removed content.  But you were hopeful and they strung you along till they got around to seizing control. I do love how they make a cursory post about being enthusiasts and owners of whatver brand the board caters too. Yet those new profiles never contributed before or after, as far as i know, anything other than statements of party line and attacks of any internal critics.

What some of you guys don't seem to understand is that some of those advertisers over on the DML signed a contract and are in it for the period of their contract.  By you telling those advertisers that you will be avoiding them wont make any friends, or attract them to advertise here after their contracts expire.

Why would you want to become an advertiser here if our members are as hostile as the current members of TOB?

Most of you have heard of Chris...many have bought from him.

He's a business man. He's not a business like VS. I doubt he likes what they did to a place he contributed so heavily to both in sponsorship and expertise. Don't blame honest business men for trying to succeed with their business.

If you want them to support this place you need to support them for who they are, how they run their business, and not where they advertise.

I think you guys are on the wrong track...I'm not going to spend much energy trying to change your minds.

Then VS has the cheek to send me a new letter and ask me to send in a story…..
