Tail Bag

I'm looking for a tail bag for the monster for short trips.
I already have a tank bag that can carry quite a bit of gear, but I would rather not have anything in front of me, especially through the twisties.

So, the smaller the better, I reckon. It would be used for one night trips maximum. A bag that is just big enough to fit a pair of shoes, a change of clothes, sunnies, phone, wallet etc.

I have found two that look pretty good. Does anyone own either of these bags? Does anyone know of any that are even smaller?

I wear a Lumbar bag that has compression straps so it snaps at my waist.

It has 2 compartments ; one on each side for water bottles and a main compartment . It has 2 zippered pouches . 1 on each side of the harness like. and a small one on the front side of the main compartment.

I don't know that you could put a change of clothes in it. Possibly if you rolled the clothes up and the shoes were not hiknig boots size.

It's a High Sierra Canyon Lumbar Pack.

I got it from sierratradingpost.com

They are still available for cheap, like were $60 now $19.

One of the things I like about it is that it is out of my way and sits on the seat behind me when I'm wearing it.      Dolph

My suggestion and next set of bags will be the drybag style. Just in case you get caught in any weather. 100% waterproof

I just use a duffel... but I haven't ridden in the rain, AND I have a custom tail that moves the brake lights back, so the bag doesn't block it. I can actually put both a suitcase AND a duffel... and if I'm feeling REALLY mobile, I can mount a backpack on top. Oooh... and some saddlenags to that! I figure I could conceivably get enough for a 10 day trip mounted to the bike itself.

Not sure what I'll do if I need to ride wet. Cross that bridge when I get to it.

and with all that on the back... do you wheelie the whole time like that guy on Cannonball Run?

Well I ended up buying the Bags Connection, Reverse Tank Bag.
I'm very happy with the bag, very well made, and fits well too.

It cost me AU$140 delivered from aussiebiker.com.au

This post caught my interest because I'm also looking at a tail bag - either the Cortech - about which I've read a lot of good comments and have seen it mounted on Monsters as a good fit - but I'm not a big fan of the bungy cord approach to fastening.

And then there's this bag from RKA - available at Motowheels.

Anyone seen this/used this - and have pics of it mounted to a Monster?

It looks like it sits a little high, but hard to say.

Cheers....

I got the Cortech Sport. I guess it looks okay. Sometimes I wish it was more streamlined, but I like the storage space. I took it to a barbecue, took a pair of flip-flops, a clear shield for my helmet and a T-Shirt for the birthday boy. I still had loads of room left. I'm thinking I could pack for a week with the Cortech tankbag, tailbag and small backpack.

I'm thinking of getting myself the Whoppa Bag from Bagster. Looks solid to me.
Wouldn't know where to get it in the US though.

I use a cargo net.  I assume it's super cheap (came with the bike) and you can stick what ever small bag you already have in it...

I fixed my picture links, sorry about that! THey should all be working now!  [thumbsup]

I just threw mine away. The backpack I had put underneath kept shifting in all directions.
