Cher

It's been discussed recently that we should have a rough plan  for our Duc road trips this year.  Something roughly  along the lines of a major trip [evil] once a quarter, although the way it's shaping up right now, it looks like Q1 has the potential for two major trips already - not there's anything wrong with that  [cheeky]

So, what do y'all think of this:

Q1:  Jan, Feb, Mar

Big Bend
Hill Country - Spring - OR -
Invade Cory's house for Mardi Gras  [evil]

Q2:  Apr, May, Jun

Arkansas/Hot Springs - OR -
Colorado Rockies

Q3:  Jul, Aug, Sept

MotoGP/Indy - OR -
Hill Country - Fall

Q4:  Oct, Nov, Dec

Alternate Hill Country/Fall

These are just ROUGH guess-timates for trips/rides.  Feel free to pipe up with your ideas for other acts of random Ducati hooliganism  [evil]

I also realize no one really knows with any certainty what they'll be up to in, say, October - or even March for that matter - but this thread is more about discussing what we may want to do as a group for road trips this year.  (Yes, I'm a compelsive organizer... so what?  [laugh] )  I, for one, if given enough notice SHOULD be able to make MOST of these events this year...

Let's ride  [moto]

Wow, it looks like a little something for everyone. [thumbsup]

Now we need a motion and for the Board to approve. [coffee]

You know what would be a potentially cool race trip is Barber Motorsports Park... 'course then we're dealing with an AMA Suzuki Chairity event.

Nah...  Maybe not.

Is WSBK at Laguna with the MotoGP bunch this year?   [moto]

June would be the earliest that I would want to make an Ouray trip. Mid to end of July would be the best.  All of the passes will be open by then. Black Bear did not open until mid June last year IIRC.  I would love to drive the passes for a day while out there  [thumbsup]

Yes, she is one lucky girl.   [clap]

I love usuing that line around Jennifer! [laugh] Always a reliable source of spousal irritation. ;D [popcorn]

I also love the spring and fall Arkansas trips. Never have understood why more folks don't come out of the woodwork for those. Not a bad ride up, gets much better once you hit Oklahoma and the roads in Arkansas are really nice! Good pavement and little traffic. Only real problem on last year's trips (besides Scott's un-plugable rear tire and Rich's lowside) was the Holiday Inn bar closing early one night after dinner and them refusing to let us in and make our own drinks! [laugh]

I'm NOT going to miss the next Arkansas run for sure. The scenery and roads look amazing. I hope to have some LEO countermeasures in place by then.  ;D

It may come as a surprise to some but I won't go back to Indy for the MotoGP this year.  Other than the "incident" where they strung me along for three months pretending that they were going to help me with the accident, the drive up is boring.  There is nowhere to ride around unless you're into cornfields and geometrically laid out roads.  It's a nascar circuit which is a big oval with a stadium seating.  There are good points and bad points to it.

It's too bad that Barber lost out to Miller in their bid to host WSBK but I hear that the Miller race track is great too.  If I am going to travel 900+ miles to see a race, it will not be back to Indy.  Utah sounds more interesting to me.

Laguna is the site for the other US MotoGP race but hotel accomodations are outrageous.  The town is small and quaint.  But there are opportunities to ride great roads.  The track is small but has the famous corkscrew which one has to see at least once in your life.  Did I say the hotel accomodations are expensive?

If AMA were more intersting and especially if Ducati were part of it I'd say Barber in Atlanta would be a great place to go to.
