Rossi leads the first test day in Qatar, Stoner a close 2nd, and guess who's 3rd?

You know, I've been reading all this about WSBK and MotoGP going HD, but I have to tell you: Eurosport France already had them in HD a year or two ago.  Definitely a year ago for both, but maybe only motogp in 08.  My TV then was only 720p, but the broadcasts were obviously HD.  I think this is all a marketing ploy (I remember the same headlines about a year ago).

Now, if Speed gets its head out of its rectum and buys the HD signal, that would be good news!

By not being broadcast in the US until now in HD has been one pet peave of mine. If in fact they do go 1080p I'll be thankful. [bow_down] Now the 65" will (high)definately come alive!! Yippee Skippeee!!!  [thumbsup] [clap] [popcorn]

[coffee]   I hadn't heard Speed was considering buying the HD Channel.  Makes perfect sense though.

Well, for the first time in a long time I can honestly say I enjoyed the AMA SBK and SS races more than the WSBK round in Portomao this past weekend.  Good stuff AMA  [clap]

Oh good - I DVR'd it and haven't watched fonseca yet (watched supercross of course, pretty entertaining). WSBK is a let down when privateers/independents are faster than the previous lap record holding factory rider(s). Sigh. I tried to say that as spoilerlessly as possible.

Oh no, you've ruined it for me!!!

Just kidding! Tried to watch my TIVO'd WSBK races late Sunday night but fell asleep on the couch. Not boring, just that tired. Finished them last night. Personally, I liked the results but I agree with Josh. [bang] Like Lisa, I can't wait to see the AMA/DMG fiasco SBK races. Know the results but still want to see them. I have been the chief AMA/DMG hater around here but you can't fault the racers on the track. Just glad most of them still have rides. Too bad there aren't any fans in the stands. :P

Wonder if the level of competition will significantly decrease if it isn't taken seriously?

It seems to me, that in a state as large as Texas, with several race tracks in the area, we could run a successful Texas Superbike Racing League. (TSRL, anyone?)

Likewise, I think California would have no trouble.

How different would it be than nurturing our version of the Italian and Spanish (etc) Leagues which Rossi, Fabrizio (etc) started out in.

Nice Blazing Saddles reference! [laugh]

I don't think another series could compete with CMRA locally. Lots of former and current champions have come from CMRA (previously CRRC when I was in it). Too bad they lost the Henderson track this year. It had been on the schedule forever! Just a thought but we could always think about a group ride to watch a CMRA race sometime before it gets too freakin' hot or maybe in the fall.

I didn't get a Hrumph outta that guy!

Stellar idea Brian. A group ride would be excellent.

Last year whilst doing track days I had several chances to talk to the CMRA racers. In some of the meetings it was discussed that the only thing wrong with CMRA (I think this is correct in saying) is that it does not allow it's riders to compete in WERA or vise versa. I think there was a vote on the board members last fall to elect a new president. Part of the elections were to vote on a referendum to allow cross racing. I haven't looked into it since.
