ok, here my problem. i have some stock outer sleeves from the forks tubes of a  06' 620 monster. i bought a pair of showas from a S2R 800 which the sleeves are about 2 inches longer. i wanna put the sleeves from the 620 forks on to the S2R 800 set.

if i take just the shorter sleeve and put it together with all the pieces from the longer fork will it work and be that just 2 more inches of slider tube will be showing?

(before i go taking the forks apart) is the fork slider tube longer on the longer fork or the same and just the cartridge piece longer?

what is my best option, if any, to fit the shorter slider on the longer fork? i have all the piece to the shorter fork except the slider and piece the brake bolts to.

thanks as always!

Acemoney I have not tried mixing parts from different brands so I have no first hand info for you.
I would worry about different fork bushings
thread pitches on the legs @ the cap
different size damper rods attaching to the caps the s2r uses a small damper.

thanks for your speedy answer and info

i did pull the fork cap off the 800 forks and upon further review it appears the slider tube is the same length as the 620's....so the plan (right now) is.....to take the slider/axleholder/brakeholder piece ONLY from the 800 and stick that with all my piece from the 620 forks. that is the piece from my 620 forks that was destroyed (thanks to my handy work).

any worries with that? or possible threading issues or whatnot?

It may work I would just loose fit it all. I usually find the last part to fit .... does not.

Are you planning on using the damper from the 620 in the s2r slider (lower)? check fit where the damper seats if this is the case.

are your forks both Marzzocci?

that's the "plan"!  The 800 is a Showa bottom and the stock 620's i can only assume are Marzzocci (right?). i hoping this is fine.......because i just got done taking them all apart. i guess i'll find out this weekend when i merge all the parts. 620 damper rod is not here for me to check.

Check the bottom inside leg (inside the caliper mount)
I think the 800 is a marzzocci and the 620 could be either.

If it is a showa it will be cast into the leg, if not you have marzzocci's

watch for bottoming cone issues where the damper fits to the leg

thanks, if you could please tell me what exactly a "bottoming cone issue" is i will watch for it. my simple mind need simple terms. thanks in advance.
yes one is showa and the other is marzzocci.

When you remove the damper assembly there will be a "cup" that fits between the damper assembly and the fork bottom. this helps control bottoming resistance.

make sure it fits both the damper assembly as well as the fork bottom.
