I own a pair of the sidi strada air boots, I mostly commute on my 696 and ocasionly ride the twisties with friends. I found the virdigo corsas on clearance.http://www.motosport.com/street/search/index.php?words=ZBDWFX

For the price, it would be nice to have a pair for when I do some serious riding or when I step-up to a bigger bike in the future. Does anyone think these are over-kill for non-track riding?

What do you guys think?

No, they are not overkill.  You like to walk don't you?

Buy the best boots you can afford.   [thumbsup]

I have the waterproof model and I like it a lot. These boots are very narrow compared to many other boots, quite a few people end up buying one size larger than normal. If the prices compare, you could get them at NewEnough for outstanding service - they donate $1 to our board for each sale made by us (donate feature as you go along through their webstore).

That's a really good price. I guess they're clearing 'em out because the new Vortice is out. Great boots. The only reason I didn't buy them was that they made it a PIA to shift on my 696, and I want to keep my passenger pegs, so I haven't gone to adjustable rearsets. Doesn't sound like a problem for you since you already wear a full boot.

Hope you like 'em. Sorry, I just checked this. What I meant was, in the Sidi full boots, I had difficulty extending my foot to make upshifts on my 696. They were lots better than the A-stars I tried though.

Just a reminder (and you may have already done this)...

I'm not 100% sure how the 696 pegs are set up, but most shift pegs are adjustable up or down to accommodate personal preference. And after a while, you get used to the feel of the boots (or lack thereof) and shifting becomes a doddle. When I got my first pair of motocross boots for my supermoto, it was like wearing a log on my foot. After a few rides, it was much easier after I got used to the weight/stiffness of the boots.

There's a very little bit of adjustment on the shift lever, as best I can tell.
