i would love for someone to have a performance shootout of all the crap like this

1.) Adjustable performance "chips"
2.) Tornado intake swirler thingy
3.) ......

MrFry's News Ticker:
*shifty eyes* someone's been reporting bad news-->Fry-Cycles to offer baked, broiled & deep fried options as well .....My Little Pony still in style.....House NOT destroyed in motorcycle gang's takeover!.....DMF: where the cool kids hang out........

3) fuel line magnets that "ionize" the fuel in the right orientation
4) .....

Those tornado intake things crack me up.  They do make something that adds velocity to the air going into the inake, it's called a turbo/supercharger/etc.  The tornado is a sparkly gadget fan that no one can even see, I'd imagine this chip has about the same effectiveness.

Fuel line magnets?  Aren't those the things that rebuild the crystalline structure of the hydrogen molecules in your fuel (leaded, high octane only) so they have a higher explosion coefficient once they enter the combustion manifold?  I thought about it, but the price was too high.

my favorite was pulling one out of a customers Turbocharged car...

so lets see, this thing swirls the air; then this now spiraling air hits a turbine.... yeah, i don't see any issue there.  [roll]

now back to the task at hand
chances are all this chip does is 'trick' the computer into reading a different from the O2 sensors which can either richen up the mixture or lean it out.
chances are it won't do a damn bit of good

just my $0.02

Myth Busters did the magnets on the fuel line with a car on a Dyno and it was busted.

That is just sad that myth busters actually did something to bust it.  It is so ridiculus that it shouldn't of even been on the radar to bust.

You never know until you have some data to back up the claim, regardless how ridiculous it might seen.  I've seen some crazier tests on that show and they never seize to amaze me.  :)

Despite all the nay-sayers. The +25hp claim is a misnomer as it refers to results achieved with some of their car chips. They use the same ad for all their chips, all they do is change the title of the auction to fit the application you are searching for. Even if the magnum performance chip doesn't increase HP at all, it would be a worthwhile mod to prevent a bike with less restrictive after market pipes and air filter, and stock ECU, from running too lean. FWIW, I'm fitting one on my 696 at the same time I fit a set of non catalyst, no db killer, pipes on. I'm doing a before and after dyno test and tune, and will post results here.

Getting an extra 25 HP out of a 400 HP car motor is entirely possible. (appox. 5%) Expecting to get another 25 HP out of a motor that only produces only 80 HP is ridiculous. You need to read the entire add and understand that the chip is designed and built in Hungary for a wide variety of applications. The Europeans expect consumers to have a LITTLE common sense. On a 696 you can expect about a 3-5 HP increase, and with proper setup, a correct A:F ratio. Oh, by the way, I don't work for magnum performance, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express!
2009 M696, 14T front sprocket, M1100 bars and riser, DP bar ends, CRG levers, R&G tail tidy, Exan carbon fiber exhaust cans, DP low profile seat, 12v port for charger and TomTom, Motovation frame sliders, axle sliders and fork sliders. LH Euro air shroud with charcoal canister removed. GIPro gear indicator. Rizoma rearsets.

4) Carbon dry PROTEC will make your part 300-500% stronger
5)..........
Desmosedici - it's the new Paso (except the bodywork doesn't fit as well)

Okay that's just mean. Seriously, if your part were made out of paper mache I could easily see PROTEC helping  ;D

As for this "chip" I could see this an an alternative for folks with surging issues. Beyond that, no bike comes from the factory with a fuel/air map in the ECU so messed up that this could possibly result in anything other than a few HP.

The only "snake oil" product I've seen with any data to back it up are those NG / Hydrogen injectors for Diesel engines. And that's a pretty special case and those kits are not cheap...
I own several motorcycles. I have owned lots of motorcycles. And have bolted and/or modified lots of crap to said motorcycles...
