S2R 800 Suspension Questions

I recently lowered my Monster S2R 800 with the SWATT lowering link and had a request for anyone else riding this bike.  I also lowered the front forks by sliding them up and want to make sure I lowered the bike evenly.  Does anyone have measurements of the stock ride height from the foot peg and from the handlebars?  Or does anyone have another way to accurately measure these?  Thanks.

IMO, your best bet is to determine your own baseline.  There can be a lot of variation in how folks take measurements and define datum points.  I don't think I'd trust the footpeg measurement.

For the front, you can measure the distance that you raised the fork tube in the triple, which will directly reflect the amount that you lowered the front (usually expressed in mm).  Perhaps there is a grease mark or scuff indicating the original fork tube position?

For the rear, you can measure from the axle to some convenient and fixed point on the frame above the axle.  Ideally this will be with the rear unloaded so that the suspension is fully extended.  You already have your lowering link installed, but it would be good to swap the original back in to get the measurement.  Alternatively you could visit a dealer and take the stock measurement, or coordinate very carefully with another owner, but I think a measurement on your actual bike will be the most accurate.  Does SWATT specify the amount of lowering?  If you're looking for less height you can also consider the M695 seat, which has about an inch less foam and won't impact the bike geometry.

That is exactly what I am looking for, someone with whom I can compare stock measurements.  If anyoone may be able to provide me with this information, it would be greatly appreciated.  I am not looking to go any lower than I am, but rather to confirm that i did not throw off the geometry of the bike itself.  SWATT does not specify as it is an adjustable link.  If not, then I guess my only option will be to visit a dealer to take measurements.  Thanks.

Often the lowering link suppliers will indicate "stock height to minus 1 inch" or something to that effect.  I bought a custom adjustable link for "stock height to plus 1 inch" where stock link length is I believe 272mm eye-eye.  There is a mathematical relationship between the link length and the rear ride height, but I don't know what it is and I prefer to measure the actual ride height.

If your link lowers the rear a full 1 inch, you may not be able to drop the front an equivalent amount before running into interference issues.  Watch out for that.

Hopefully someone with an S2R will chime in for you, but you could probably adjust the SWATT link to the stock length (272mm?), take a baseline ride height measurement, and then readjust back to where you want it and measure the ride height again.

Funny, I was just looking at the service manual for the S2R800, noticed the dimensions page, and recalled this thread.  It shows the peg height as 370mm.  That help?
