Hi Everyone,

After a frustrating year of delays and vendors not wanting to work to my level of perfection, we are very close to production of the Monster Track Tank. The model is the MTT43, where the 43 stands for 4.3 gallons.

Updated Jul 26 : Carbureted version of the tank is for sale. (see last post)

Updated: Current pics here in our photo gallery!

(original post)
The biggest hurdle was the fuel filler cap area. As I mentioned in these two different threads, the filler was originally not at all satisfactory. As you see in the above pic, my work on replacing that part of the mold paid off. At the same time, I added metal to the mold to allow the tank better fitment on S2R models. Other changes in the interim were more precise locating of the threaded holes for the fuel flange plate as well as the required technology for the carb'd monsters to have their own version of the tank.

We are having poly custom ground to match the red, yellow, and "senna gray" of Ducati parts that we sent to the source. The MTT43 will be available in black, red, yellow, gray, natural / clear, and white. The tanks are NOT paintable, as nothing sticks to the poly.

The Monster Track Tank will be priced aggressively to make it easy for you to get the tank for trackday use and then preserve your costly original tank. You get 4.3 gallons for $430. We believe in supporting your local dealers, so there are dealer pricing programs, too.

De ja vu: it seems like I was excited about this tank 2 years ago??  [roll] [bang] Barring the extraordinary, these will be ready to ship by the end of the month.

Thanks,
Chris

Wow, excellent work!!  I was looking through the other threads earlier today (while cleaning the gas out of the airbox and crankcase of the Bandit  [roll]  -- vacuum-actuated petcock went south), and I couldn't find any pics.

This looks great!   [thumbsup]

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

will the tank colors be glossy like the factory paint? I have a 07 S4rs in black and I'm curious if the black on the tank will be the same black.

Other pics/angles would be great! Looks like a good solution  [thumbsup]

You say the tanks are not paintable as "nothing sticks to the poly"

Poly what? (just curious)

Most plastics are paintable today.

It almost sounds like a challenge.   ;D

The difference between one-off items and true production manufactured items is in the tooling created to make them.  You definitely stepped big time up to the plate on this one!  Even with the headaches, vendor problems, re-engineering, etc -- you have obviously persevered in getting your vision of the product finished and to the marketplace shortly.  It should be a good selling product once the publicity is out there making everyone aware of it being "for sale" and at a more than reasonable price. (less than 1/3 the price of a factory tank!)

Congrats for a job well done.  [thumbsup]
