My shop manual calls for 7 different kinds of it.
"F" that mommy. What do you guys use for grease on your bike monsters? Any preferred brand/style of grease?

I use Mobil (cause that's what I have) synthetic wheel bearing grease for most applications and Moly grease wherever grease B is called for.  My bike is an '01 with 50K on the odometer in the salty north east so I guess it is working.  You will have a hard time finding the specific Shell products in this country.

Hmm. I see.
I know absolutely nothing about grease... Could you educate me on what "Moly" grease is, versus other types?

Simple but very good question!  The Ducati service manual lists a myriad of lubes & loctite that as specified in the manual are difficult to find in north America.  Shell; a sponsor of Ducati gets all the spec references, read closely and you should be able to figure out a comparable substitute.

Generally I use synthetic wheel bearing grease; that is water proof; with high temp rating & longstrand characteristics (Quakerstate I think)
lithum where specified and
molly where spec-ed
motul chain lube (non-wax for the wet west coast) oh
and some electrolyte where called for ...

.... wd40 for loosening & cleanup only.

Only buy name brand and highly rated products that protect the moving parts.  You have to be carefull around rubber and breaks.

Others chime in and point out whats missing.
.... all the world is yours.

"Moly" is short for  molybdenum disulphide grease, and is used in areas of extremely high stress and heat.  A common use is in automotive CV joints.  AFIAK, it does not stand up well to water.

I've got a small bucket of bearing grease and a same sized bucket of moly grease.  So far, not had any problems from things not staying greased or things not wearing abnormally.  I've got 31,000 miles on the odometer ~

So. Sounds like some synthetic bearing grease, and some moly is the way to go...
Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated.
Anyone have recommendations for sourcing this stuff?

Nope.  I was calling myself out.   :D  You at least had the decency to answer the OP's question.
