Lone Star Ducatisti needs a NEW t-Shirt design in '09

EDITED original post and cryptic original title  [bang]

I'm thinking the LSD folk need a new Tee for '09.  Here's my idea:
Simple letter titles above and below a full color picture on the BACK of a white tee.

      D      U      C      A      T      I

   b   e   l   l   a     m   a   c   c   h   i   n   a

The front of the tee would have last year's LSD color crest design.

I'd like to make this t-shirt if anyone else is interested.  What say you?

call me ocd...but if this goes on a shirt it should probably be showing the oil in the sight glass up to the appropriate fill level.

i wouldn't be opposed to something like this, but the subject photo does seem to be a bit "busy"...or would at least need to be lit better, i think.  and not to nitpick... but i would think we would want an aftermarket pressure plate, since that's kind of a signature ducati thing...

Good call Lisa [thumbsup]
Love the idea of simple lettering and the Ducati dry clutch.

Yeah, maybe some adjustments on the pic; I'll leave the nit piking to Rich  [cheeky]

Awesome!  Thanks for the feedback  [thumbsup]

This was the original picture I had sitting around in one of my photobucket files from a while ago:

I messed with several picture programs to hatch what you see in the first post of this thread.   The base picture would DEFINITELY need to be re-shot in better lighting (and with the correct amount of oil in the sight glass for sure!) for it to be considered a "final" photo.

But the reasoning behind the "bella maccina" shot is not to illustrate a straight-up, "documentary" Ducati dry clutch but offer instead a softened abstract idea.  I think if it were a BMW clutch case for example, the approach would almost have to be very exact - presented in excruciating detail highlighting the perfection of the machine.  With a Ducati though I think an artsy kind of take plays well with the overall identity of the brand.  I mean there's got to be a reason why a Ducati 916 is in the Museum of Modern Art, right?  [laugh]

Thanks for the comments; keep 'em coming  [thumbsup]

I like the idea.  That image captures two great Ducati things: the trellis frame and the dry clutch.

Now the complaints.  Your image isn't the cleanest representation of that part motorcycle (both bike cleanliness and photo quality).  There are dirty spots on the frame and the pressure plate has oil and grease smudges.  The image in my opinion is not print worthy.

We should ask Scott if he has a professional shot of said region that we could use.  I've got some friends that would love to kick this around in photoshop.  Oh, and I really want a Lone Star Ducati shirt.

P.S. I'm installing my new pressure plate and clutch cover this week  ;D

Let's get Fastwins BiB and take 100 shots of it and come with the one. Or, whoever thinks they have the coolest mod on their bike, take a shot, post it and we'll all choose one, or two, or three or have multiple t-shirts!

Great concept, there are lots of great candidate 'features' to abstract out and use.  The 916 'face', the monster tank, the dry clutch, the twin mufflers, the round headlight, or termi logo.  It would be cool to incorporate the LSD name and year, like in the script on a clutch cover or pressure plate, or as a reflection in a tank or muffler, or.... ok, I'm worn out now  :P

That's very true; the t-shirts could all have the same small Ducati shield design that we used last year on the front, but the back  color  design could be model specific:  999, 916/99*, Monster, Hyper, ST3/4.

Actually it might be pretty cool to have all four  of the pictures as kind of small "tiles" stacked on top of each other - two rows of two - on the back of the shirt.  Have Ducati  above the "tiles" and Lone Star Ducati Club - 2009  below.

lisa what about the desing like on the side of the helmets with the just the valve setup. i like that. i would be afraid of having to much going on on a t-shirt. hope that came out right.

Just to throw my 2 cents in... We're actually not a "Club", & I much prefer "Ducatisti" over "Ducati".

It's about the peeps, not the brand [thumbsup]
