I'm in the process of removing the alternator cover and I have the shop manual for my '05 S4R.

I drained the coolant
I drained the engine oil
I removed the clutch slave cylinder
I removed the chain guard
I removed all the bolts from the cover
I removed the sensor
I removed the crank cover and fit a case puller

But before I torque down the puller I just wanted to make sure...do I have to removed the water pump?

The shop manual is not clear on this.  It states, "Remove the cooling circuit, section N3.2"

Well, section N3.2 says nothing about the pump itself, only the hoses and radiator.

The pump comes off with the cover, be sure to line the drive up when you reassemble.

add low pressure and if it does not start to move try tapping the cover with a soft hammer, if it still does not budge stop and look for the screw you missed.

take your time you are almost there.
