he's been [legitimately] talking/complaining about it since 2006 at least
let me reword that... I haven't heard him use this as an excuse for not performing as well when he isn't in top form. ;)
especially after the whole Laguna episode.

there was going to be something humorous here, but, unfortunately, i was in charge of the typing, and this is all i could come up with.

Isn't this the same injury that contributed to Schwantz' (words ending in "s" are meant to get an apostrophe thus: James'. Words ending in z? Swantz's just seems weird) exit from GP racing?

Whatever you think about Stoner, it would be a great loss to see him out of the series.

schwantz didn't exactly retire because of injury, he, in a sense, retired because of rainey.

I'm sure Stoner's aware of this being a potentially career ending injury.

If it doesn't heal, he's fvcked.

I've heard that the small hand bones don't heal well due to poor blood flow.
Perhaps someone more physio than I may comment.

Spencer had a carpal tunnel issue toward the end of his career.

our buddy JC severed a tendon in his thumb in that Oct lowside.  went to an uber-sports doc that does a lot of moto folks (no, not Ting) and he advised against the surgery the first doc suggested, partially b/c of this same bones don't heal properly thing.  now he's headed to a bone fusing op.
Like this is the racing, no?

Speeddog

How does it go from severed tendon to bone fusing?

I've missed it up to this point, may take me a little while to catch up  ???

That's the article I found when I googled "schwantz wrist", I was looking for some small confirmation of something a commentator was saying last season.

Jester

Rossi on Stoner's wrist:

“Stoner is already very fast. I think that to make this lap time he doesn't have a lot of pain, because if you have a lot of pain and you make this lap time then without pain he could maybe be one and a half seconds faster!” said the Italian. “I don't think that is the reality,”

On Pedrobot:

“I think Dani is fast but Stoner is more strong,” Rossi explained. “Dani has to demonstrate… He knows the way to ride the bike, he is competitive, he is good, but he wins less than us. So he needs to improve from this point of view.

Where is the linky to Rossi's  statements?  If can hear his voice as I read those quotes.....definitely sounds like something Rossi would say.  He is right about Dani....doesn't have the same will to win.

Stoner will race this year...no doubt!
M-ROCin' it!!!

or maybe he'll never race again

So in the off chance that Stoner sits out the season for another surgery or just rehab time.... Rossi should take what, probably 12-13 wins I'd imagine?

I still think Stoner is just playing the poker game.  I'd be surprised if he really has to sit.

if it's a real problem, he already had surgery and rehab.  which could mean end of career.

i do hope he's sandbagging, just for the drama of it.

Or re-op. Poor blood supply there, though, so can easily get necrosis (death/atrophy) of some of those wrist bones. In that case, he'd probably need a fusion, and would permanently lose a lot of the range of motion.

I sure as hell hope he's riding this year  :-\
