Money is a little tight and I am wanting to get the rear sets on my 696 powder coated black.   I got an estimate from the dealer  to take them off and put them back on but it pushes it outside my budget right now.    Is this something I can do myself to keep the cost down?   If so is there anything i need to watch out for?  Any advice is appreciated.  Thank you in advance.    [moto]

Taking the rearsets off and putting them back on is absolutely something you can do yourself.  Do you have access to any basic metric tools?
Occasionally AFM #702  My stuff:  The M1000SS, a mashed r6, Vino 125, the Blonde, some rugrats, yuppie cage, child molester van, bourbon.

Yes I do .  I have a torque wrench as well.  Im just worried about the levers/springs and the large bolt the swingarm is bolted to.

Just took mine off.  It's pretty easy.  Just be a little careful/slow on the rear brake side.  You'll also need some heavy duty grease - not the general purpose stuff.

You dont NEED it but it's easier and well if you are working on your bike, do you really want just one little bit of alum holding it up?

Oh and make sure you have the parts catalog, make it easier to figure stuff out
