They went back.  Sounds like a classic brain fart moment

There aren't many stations left where you can pump without paying first.

getting fuel and not paying first at a self-serve? not here . . . no pay no fuel . . . but we've got still a lot of full service stations and I go there, just $0.01 to $0.02 price difference per litre

Slide the card...pump...machine debits/charges the account.

No one uses money here any more...it's all electronic.

Makes it much easier on the clerks that can't make change. ;)

wife usually asks clerk for $20.00 worth of fuel, that's about 1/2 tank . ..  yes, on the little Suzuki . . . my Monster usually fills with $10.00 !!!
