Still not finished but here's some bike porn for your enjoyment;

List of mods (recent)

  • Hight temp paint on exhaust - getting these off was surprisingly easy
  • Powder coated (texture black) the rear sets and exhaust cans - getting the freaking spring back on the rear sets took hours!
  • Painted (model enamel paint) the letters on the brakes
  • Speedymoto sprocket cover
  • Vinyl wrapped forks - that took a while and I'll probably re do
  • High temp paint on the headlamp
  • Gloss black enamel paint on the air intakes
  • Switched to the DP tail but I like the look of the CW tail, just wear too much of the road with the CW

After painting the exhaust, I'm thinking the red stands out, looks better in person but still questioning.  Also need to do the exhaust cans section that connects (ran out of paint) to the rest of the system.  If the black pipes grow on me, I'll get them ceramic coated.  Might redo the vinyl in reflective black, found a couple of 8 1/2 x 11 sheets that are pretty dark and only slightly more glossy than the current flat black.

I love bikes in living rooms. ;D

Fabulous. I like everything you've done.

First time seeing one of those sprocket covers on a 696â€"nice! Very noticeable. I actually have no cover on at all (:o) but would use one of those if I had one.

P.S. Not sure if you're leaving the heat shields off, but go ahead and get rid of those screws (think of all the weight you'll save!). [thumbsup]

My wife would kill me if she came home and there was a monster in my living room! Zloki, if you are going to ceramic coat the exhaust, I can fill in the hole in the covers of the exhaust and cut off the brackets if you want free of charge, you just have to drive back out.  :)

Tempting...  I think I'd drive her out this time, need to see how she handles a long road trip.  I'll let you know and thanks for the offer!  I actually had the bike in various parts all over the floor for about a week while the powder coating came in, lots of beach towels to cover things up helps a lot!

wark - not sure about the heat shields, will put those on this weekend when I'm home, see how it looks.  The sprocket cover is cool and stands out, hella expensive but thats the price for bling...  [thumbsup]

R2 - The tank protector comes clear, from a distance it looks painted.

My best man from my wedding rode his 848 out here last weekend from Rancho Cucamonga.  Said it wasn't too bad save for the wood seat (thank god Monsters actually have a padded seat...)

Great looking bike!  [thumbsup]

I'm fully convinced those Rizoma Reverse Retros are the best looking mirrors out there.

I'd really like to get some for my 696. How's the visibility?

Yeah, just two screws, on and off in about one minute.  I got mine from Motowheels - make sure you get the one for the 696/1100 - http://www.motowheels.com/italian/myproducts.cfm?parentcategoryid=38|Aluminum%20Billet&productID=6207&showDetail=1&categoryID=48|Most%20Late%20Model%20Ducati%20Billet&vendoridtodisplay=32|SpeedyMoto&filterFor=&collection=38|Aluminum%20Billet - you can always double check at the Speedymoto site or simply ask the Motowheels guys, good people to work with.

Rambler1982 - Viability is good to average depending on how you set them up.  In the pics I have them setup for lane splitting and I get a good view of everything behind me with a bit of my arms .  Turn the mirrors out (rotate the mirror so they are pointing out) and the view is much better.  Sometimes I ride with one out and one in, great thing is that you can do that on the fly.  I've heard that you can put them on under the bars and the viability is even better.  Going to try that one day...  Overall, I love them.

DUDE !!! that bike belongs in a living room on display great job [thumbsup]
my wife would have my head if she came home to that.
Favorite convo i read on this board
"PICS OR IT DIDNT HAPPEN"
"F**K U IT HAPPENED"

Suzuki Blvd M109R " Sliver " = assassinated by cager
PW 696 " Pearl " = traded in
M1100 " Loki " = Viking God of mischief ( Goddess in this case )
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in a pretty pristine body, but rather to come in sliding sideways all used up screaming F*CK YEAH WHAT A RDIE!!

You have any close ups of your fork wrap job?  I'd like to see how your lines match up/overlap.  All in all, looks f-in great!

Triple J

Looks good!  [thumbsup]

Have you ran it yet? I'm curious how well the high temp paint will hold up on the headers...and how well the powder coat will hold up on the exhaust cans. Those stock cans get HOT with the cats in them. Typically people ceramic coat the headers, and use high temp paint on the cans.

mrplease

sorry to copy you but i just ordered that sprocket cover from moto wheels.

thanks man...

(p.s. i already bit your style on the mirrors  [cheeky] )

Looks Great!!!  I was thinking about spaying my headers, let us know how it holds up.
