Watch out for stray Cats on 35?

I got a big scare on the 35 feeder last night, I was southbound coming from Bike night at Twin Peaks (another story all together).....

Anyway I hopped off the freeway at some point because I was getting blown around too much and didn't enjoy being buzzed by sleep deprived 18-wheeler drivers.

Was putzing along around 55mph when something dashed out from my left and scurried across the road missing my front tire by inches!

Lucky for me it happened so fast I didn't have anytime to react (unless you count shrieking like a girl and then cussing up a storm afterwards)

Not sure wtf it was but it looked like a small cat, my first thought was that it might have belonged to one of the homeless people or something who live in those underpasses

I didn't see it ahead of time because it was hiding behind the wall

Phew!

I know to look out for deer on country roads, but dang this caught me totally off-guard

Lesson learned!

It happened between 46th and Airport, I found the exact spot on google street view

it basically popped out from behind the median wall (where the wall ends) and darted across

Wow! I am glad that you didn't have time to react and that you made it through without anything more than a scare.

El Matador

That's kinda funny. I had a very similar thing happen to me on 335 or 336 in october. A lynx or bobcat tried to attack my duc as it screamed towards it at 60 miles an hour.

You have to expect the unexpected. Here in San Antonio, we have highway deer in the middle of the city.

Hollywood park is full of deer and right at the intersection of 281 and 1604. I've seen dead deer on both highways.

I was down in SA a few weeks ago and that is no lie. Heck, I even saw deer on Callaghan road. The small part between Fredericksburg Rd and Babcock. "CRAZY!"  :o I thought to myself. Urbanized deer. Whooda thunk.  :P

They're all over the place here in Lakeway.  In front yards when you're driving through neighborhoods just before dusk.
