Took a long ride today (450 miles).  Ate breakfast in Richmond at Perly's Diner, then headed northwest to vineyard country along Hwy 211.  Here's a few shots.

Not familiar with 211. Good riding up there? You were lucky to beat the thunder home. Rained like mad for 30 minutes ~ 5:30 PM in Goochland!

I took Hwy 33 out of Richmond to Elkton which isn't a bad ride, especially when you go through Shenandoah Park.  From there, I took Hwy 340 to 211 and followed it east to Warrenton,  with detours along the way to visit some vineyards.  The stretch that goes through Shenandoah Park again between Luray and Sperryville is especially good.  I even saw two black bear cubs come out of the woods right by the road (but didn't wait around for the mama bear to make an appearance).  Luckily, I missed the rain entirely with nice weather the whole way.

Next time you're out that way, make a run down 250.  The stretches between Bartow and Monterey, and then to West Agusta are pretty nice.
And the sugar fountain fairy swore so hard when she came to super-size that stale hope soybean; liiiike a homeless German woman. Who is this super-sizing spirit-crushing femme? And tell her I'll break a tree root up in her shrimp.

Being faster than you thought possible…it feels good. No, screw thatâ€"it feels like shotgunning a gallon of adrenaline and chasing it with an all-night orgy aboard a burning Viking boat.

Thanks for the tip...I didn't know Hwy 250 runs from Richmond all the way up to Sandusky, OH.  The stretch from Staunton, VA to the western edge of the Monongahela National Forest looks great.  I live in Yorktown, so would probably base out of Staunton and make a full day of it.  Another possibility would be to base out of Waynesboro or Nellysford, VA and hit the various roads in the Blue Ridge area.

Perhaps a DIVA (Ducati in Virginia) is in order....
