g'day feral,

I was investigating this a while back and found the expence not worth it. Depending on the system there can be both gains & losses.
Cons - Too short and you loose the scavanging effect and air flow speed can slow down. If the junction is restrictive it can also cause unusual back pressure.
Its also alters the sound enough to notice, so if you really like your current sound, be ready for a change.
Pros - lightens the bike up by a fair whack and can if tuned correctly (lots of R&D so prepare to pay for it) gain reasonable amounts of power, when combined with cams, carb tuning, port/polish & custom headers, you can start looking at the magic 100Hp mark at the wheels on the 2vhead 900's.

I also found the most cost effective way was to have a simple exhaust shop cut open the x-shaped cross over under the swing arm. Cap off one side and flow it all into one pipe. Its easier to see how, when its all off the bike.
Hope that help you. - Chris

Along with Chris's very good information.
be prepared for a nice price premium for Deus to do any work for you.
Not that I don't like what they do, I am a fan of the bikes they put out. It's just that you do very much pay for them.
And I know what everyone is thinking, that we are Ducati owners.
But when they bring in a $4000k Yamie SR400 and turn them round for more than triple that.

Do you mean note or loudness or both ?

Yeah they are Bespoke
But they do have a catalogue now and you can order the bikes they do from it.
You can also put yourself (as in personality) into any bike they do.

I have a list of cycles I'd like to collect and they are on it.
