Motorcycle-Superstore just sent me a tire sale email.

Pricing for a front and rear set of Pilot Road 2's for my 696 is $295 with free shipping. I found an online coupon for $20 off $200 purchase.
Is $295 shipped for the Pilot Road 2 a pretty good deal? If the coupon is successful, it'll be $275.. Even better I suppose.

I found they had the best deal on my Pilot Powers when I purchased last year.

Unfortunately at this time, CG's pricing is way beyond the link I posted. On top of that I have to pay sales tax.  :-\

I need to stop reading up on things. Now I'm researching the Pilot Power 2CT tires.  [bang]

I have the PP 2CT now... but I think I read later that they actually added a stickier compound to the sides, as opposed to a tougher compound to the center (which is ultimately what I wanted).  [bang]

My last tires were regular Pilot Powers, the rear with 9000 miles, and the front had 12000. Mostly commuting, thus the longer life compared to other tires and riders experience.

How are the PP 2CTs holding up? My bike is not a daily rider bike. I'm more of a weekend warrior with "long" 100+ mile trips here and there and MAYBE one or two track days per year. Nothing too aggressive.. I'm looking for a good well rounded tire. I don't think I need a super high mileage tire. If I can get 5000 miles I'm good.
And as chicken shit as I sound, I don't ride in the rain.

My bike came with the Pilot Powers when I got it. Awesome tire for a weekend warrior looking for performance on the curves, and I bet the PP2CT is even better. When I got a screw in my rear tire I replaced it with the Pilot Road 2CT. Great tire for my 60 mile daily commute, and weekend rides in the twisties. Either way, both great tires. For a bad price comparison, I got my rear Pilot Road 2CT, mount and balance for $190 from a local shop. Maybe not the best price, but money grows on trees.

I'm kinda torn between the PP 2CT and the PR 2CT now.

Well, if you live in L.A., Berts megamall is having a sale starting Thursday. PP 2CT $123 front ans $156 rear

id go with pilot road. your center material is a harder material that should last 10k miles and the eges are of the pilot power type so youd have plenty of grip.

sonofapregnant dog. i just got regular pilot roads for 275 shipped. If I had known it was possible to get Road 2's for the same price, I absolutely would have done such.

Well I pulled a 180 and ordered a set of Bridgestone BT-016's instead. I think they come standard on the 1100/S.
The reviews have been positive and the price was right. I had to take advantage of the sale.
I'll let you know what I think about them in a week or two. They are due to arrive late next week.  [beer]

Good luck with the new rubber. I will tell you though, I have run Pilot Powers for some time now and they are great. That said, my set of Pilot Road 2's have been phenomenal. The grip is plenty for agressive street riding and the wear up to this point is better than expected. I have easily doubled the mileage of the pilot powers and still have more to go. I purchased the Road 2's when they first came out so the price was a bit steep but in the long run I would say I saved money. When the BT-016's finally wear out, I would check back on the Pilot Road 2's.
