So there is a track day down at Arroyo Seco next weekend and I was thinking about going. I only have 3 more months here and would like to do a couple days before I head out. Is it worth the 4hr drive down there? From what I have heard, it's a decent track. Is it worth the 4hr drive tho?

Depends on what time is worth I figure. but the track, It's a big fast track & I love it. You'll be able to use more than 2nd gear on your bike there. Also some very technical corners.
Have had zero time to even think about a track day in some time, but last time I went I was riding a 999s & had a blast.
Liter bike goodness...for NM
I promise to make better mistakes tomorrow.

Who's riding this Sunday track day? Scott- riding or waving? Ed, Karl, Wayne, others?!

This is the first I heard of it. Are you riding?

I'll be fulfilling my role as Chief Corner Marshal for the trackday.  I hope many of you can make it!  This event will be in the new configuration, so you can do something new if you haven't ridden this course, yet.

Once again, you can go to the SMRI website at

http://www.smri-racing.org/season/view.php

for the whole year's schedule of trackday and racing events.

After the June 5th event, the next trackday is July 10th in the standard configuration (the site says new config, but Sandia BMW demands that it be the standard config, and since they're the sponsor they get what they want!).

I'll try to remember to post something two weeks prior to each of the season's remaining trackday and race events.

BTW, if you're not going 'cause you can't afford it, I can pay you $50 to come out and work as a corner marshal at trackday or race events.  That covers 2/3 of the cost of a trackday if you buy your ticket from the event sponsor.  So far this year, we've been short of corner marshals on a couple of occasions so we could use the help!

I registered for track day this weekend, but still need to swing by Moto Authority to pick a ticket on Saturday.

Scott- I can do corner work on race day as I won't my Aermacchi ready I guess...! :'( Will update as we go...But, I plan to do all track days if I'm in town! C'mmon folks, line up and do track days...no better learning! [Dolph]

Steve will be at the trackday, so if you'll call him I'm sure he'll bring your ticket to the track.  You don't need it to get through the gate, just at registration.

Does that mean I should write you in as a corner marshal for the 26th?  If we thrash it we could probably get the Aermacchi rideable for a few hundred bucks before the 26th if Ron can weld up a manifold.  That and controls are the major problems now.....and fork tubes.....and fork seals....I think that's it.

Not my best trackday, but survived it and enjoyed a bit...good reminder I need to drop few pounds and get back to fitness. Two riders blew it in front of my eyes!  ??? 16 bottles of water, 3 liters of Gatorade and 2 EmergenC- HEAT! Crazy stunt show! Street tires and expert class meant muscle tussle into apex and some not so nice encounters with not so clean passes- control rider included. The carbon got quite some attention...so much so that a control rider wanted to leave a gash on my poor right fairing with his foot peg!  :'( Kept the bike up and barely managed to make it to SF...that's what matters! I need some $ and few upgrades real bad!!! [Dolph]

Was nice to see Scott, Craig and few others...!

Kathy (MotoAuthority and Karl's help!) did an awesome job on my suit zipper (blew on a high speed pass) and delivered it to track at 7am on half day notice! I now have a FAT FAT YKK zipper capable of top speed...My old torn suit is at her mercy currently as well...For any that crash or need leather help, you wont find a better help! PM me for number or contact Steve at MotoAuthority.

Same here...that's why I did not do it. I got sore just from doing two Crest runs  [roll]
Glad you and your bike made it back in one piece [clap]

Track day this Sunday, July 10th, hosted by Sandia BMW.  Come on out and ride, or volunteer as a corner marshal!

Sandia BMW is selling their track day tickets for $65 by the way, as opposed to the $75. I'll be there.  [Dolph]
