michelin pilot power are a nice sticky tire. i plan on getting the pilot power 2 ct next time.

i'm not sure if these are heavy or light tires though, if that matters to you...

Powers are very much overkill for a street ridden 696. Roads or Road 2's are more than you'll ever need and people even use these for trackdays, and actually have some wet weather performance, and unlike the Powers, won't square off really fast which seriously undermines turn-in.

yeah i've heard good things about the michelin pilot road tires. i heard they also have a longer life than the pilot power ones do. they look pretty cool too!

Nice.
It would be great if we all get the last info/weights of last generation tires  [thumbsup]

So, anyone want to start?  ;D

Road 2's still have the long life, but with very sticky edges for grip to rival the Powers. My power squared off on me way too quickly. Powers will only be on superbikes for me from now on.

I got a used ST rear wheel for my 696 and after trying to fit the thing and having a battle I decided to do some measurements.
Lo and behold the ST wheel Hub is 5 mm wider than the 696 wheel, so now the left side spacer and caliper carrier are in for some machining down, other than that I can`t tell you much [bang]

The DSS wheels of all the fuel injected models and the ST series bikes are the same, wether 3 spoke or 5 spoke, I have measured them all, so there are no bolt on replacement, some machining will be required.

Any update info???  [coffee]  [thumbsup]

So... OK, I guess it's not that easy to get wheels from a different bike to fit the M696.  Too bad.

Nope not yet [bang]

Hot News  [evil]
Wheel will fit without any machining  [thumbsup]
I´m just waiting for confirmation from a Spanish. He told me already 3 guys with M696 install the rear wheel from a Ducati ST.

Only 3 little things to do and the wheel fit as standart  [bow_down]

He sent me a e-mail with the "How.to"
One - remove a rubber bushing (I think is one of two rubber things in the carrier of the M696)
Two - invert the aloy spacer (I don´t know if the left one or the rigth one  :o )
Tree - remove a aloy spacer

When I have all the info I will inform you all.

So, go for the ST rear Wheels  [thumbsup]

Please let me know as I have just sent my standard wheel in for widening, as I didn`t want to machine any parts and the widening is only gonna cost me 140 dollars [thumbsup]

@ Big Troubled Bear - I will  [thumbsup]

For keeping the issue hot, here a view of the technical manual...

I guess the rubber part to take out will be the number 27;
Maybe invert the aloy spacer number 22 with the 25 and... maybe take off one aloy spacer number 17 (they are two)  ;D
Here is my bet  [laugh]

It seems I´m not a great gambler  [laugh]
So... number 27: off
Number 4 near carrier: off
Other number 4 near disc: reverse it

But, I need a final confirmation on this issue because the info was:
27 and 4 out and turn the other 4  ;D

So, still waiting for news but, we are close  [thumbsup]

Ok, latest news  ;D

The mood should be as my last answer:
- remove part 27 and 4 (carrier side)
- reverse part 4 (disc side)

That´s it  [thumbsup]

So, I think I go for the BT 016  [coffee]

But before, I have to paint the rim black as the front whell.
Anybody knows the color code?

Probably ought to powdercoat. Also, go on and get a 90 degree valve stem for the rear too, it makes checking air pressure much easier.
