Hi,

I'm a Spaniard living in Berlin, I have a yellow 1999 Ducati M600, before I had a Suzuki GS500E, Yamaha RZ 350 (2T!) and Vespas, mopeds... all the way to a my firs, a 49cc Derbi Variant which I rebuild myself long ago...
So, I've always in love with bikes, but since I got married, children, serious jobs, working in 3 continents... I had to leave my poor Duc aside for some time. Now I'm trying to bring her back to the roads... with style. She's running now, German Tuv OK and all, but I need to give her a good clean, wax and put her up to the level of bikes I see in this place, and I count on your support!!

Mods so far: carbon belt covers, key protector and exhaust shoulder protections. CRG shorty levers, Rizoma bar end retro mirrors, yellow seat cowl, yellow fairing/windscreen, carbon cockpit with electronic rev counter... not sure if I forget anything...
What I need to do: clean her!! I need advices to get her out of 3-4 years of road dirt, grease... all over the place, plus the battery exploded long ago in Barcelona  due to extreme heat, and the frame and engine is corroded in many places, I'm thinking about painting frame to fix it and engine (black?, but just thinking of stripping it down to the frame makes me sick... I hope there is an easier solution...

Anyways, long intro, I will check the place around to look for tips!

Thanks!

welcome to the board villalji. looks like you have some work ahead of you.

you might try posting what you are doing in the tech section, or accessories and mods. you will get a lot more exposure there, and likely some suggestions on how to handle the corroded frame.
Never wrestle with pigs. You both get dirty, and the pigs like it...

Thanks Herm!

It's a good idea, I will take some pictures of the areas affected and will posted in the tech, see if there are suggestions... the thing is I want to make a good search on the archive before bothering people with things that may have been already addressed...

Welcome, nice to have another European here. [thumbsup]

Best of luck with fixing up your 600, sounds like quite the project.  If you don't easily find something with a search, just go ahead and post, we really don't mind. :)
Need help posting pictures?  Check out the photo FAQ.

Thanks for the wellcome... I will post some pics here to show the size of the work ahead of me... in fact, looking at the pics I feel even worst than before...

Here is a general view (most plastic is already off for cleaning):

And here are the horror pics, detail of the damage caused by the explosive battery:

I will post in the tech section some time this weekend with the list and sequence of the tasks I´m planning to get suggestions...

Thanks for watching!

Hi villalji,
Welcome to the DMF! I agree with grandpa nate, enjoy the adventure! You have an excellent bike to work with and when it's finished, it will be your personal flavour of Monster, with all the mods that YOU want on it! I see only potential with your pictures and, speaking from my own rebuild prespective, I know that it will be an even better ride when you finish! Why not open an account at one of the many photo hosting sites and post pictures of your progress. I have a feeling that a lot of your fellow Ducatisti would love to see them!  [thumbsup]

Cheers,      [beer]
