my local duc dealer is cleaning out 08 s2r1k for $9899 + fees. I now own 05 620, but want to add to my collection. I'm not sure if I should get the new 1100 or save some $$ and go for the 08 s2r. I really love the look of the s2r. please help me decide. pros and cons....

$9899 for an 08 S2R sounds overpriced.

How did this end up in accessories and mods?  You will have better luck posting in general.

You updated to a S2R 1000.  That might be an OK deal.  Before you had it listed as a S2R which has the 800 cc engine and nonadjustable suspension.

In 2008, the S2R only came as a 1000  [thumbsup]

The Duc guys at shop are saying the frame is much stronger on the new Monster than the old and the suspension set up is better.  They know more about Ducs than I do, but then again they are also trying to selling me a new one.  I prefer the looks and riding position of my S2R 800, but the motor of new 1100. I've read on here that there were a lot of issues with 1k motor, lugging, stalling, etc. Have you ridden the new one yet? The V where the man bits get squashed up against the tank seems rather unpleasant, but I've only sat on it.

the fram on monster is very strong anyway....I bet they didn't mention the frame being weak a couple years ago when there was no 1100!

Check out the closed-loop mod sticky above. Basically, count on spending $80 for a FatDuc to fix the fueling issues at lower RPMs. Other than that, I suspect you would run into the same issues as you start performance moding the S2R as the M1100.

Buy what you like. The 1000DS engine is really nice, but I agree that on the whole, the 1100 is more refined.

I second that thought - and as far as the "problems" with the s2r1000 go, I think they are far from universal. I've got one, have never had an issue, even running with midpipe, termis and stock ecu. It runs great. I've since thrown on the DP ecu and a 14 tooth front sprocket, and just love the thing.
