talks about top speed deficit on Friday:
http://roadracingworld.com/news/article/?article=36836

from http://twitter.com/matmladin:

Frustrating would be an understatement. I absolutely hate being constantly passed in a straight line. I wasn't a very good loser today.

glad not to many tracks have three 6th gear straights. congrats to Larry and his team. Larry and his folks do a great job every year finding sponsors and showing up with a good outfit.

There was a lot of cheering during that race - especially when Mladin lost.

This was pretty exciting to hear. Really great to see Ducati racing in the U.S. And beating Mat, well that's pretty nice too.

I find it strange though people complaining about the Duc having a speed advantage over the Suzuki, since in WSBK it seems like the Suzuki's top speed is one of their strengths... or maybe I haven't been paying attention.
I love my RED 620!

you can't really compare a wsbk-spec bike to an edmondson cup bike

and i don't think anyone was complaining.  mat was just surprised that they'd found a few mph recently; we're only talking about 4 or 5.

When the other guy wins, it's the other bike's top speed that made him win. When you win, it was all rider skill ;D

was he talking about the duc or the suzuki? if i was him, i'd be surprised if a non-yosh suzuki pulled me on the straights, too...

considering the top speed guy was a yosh, mat's 'confusion' in this piece sounds a bit.. made up.  the problem, so to speak, is that his bike is slower.

Got to meet and chat with Ron Hix on Thursday. He was up there with us at the NESBA track days and I have to say that  he is a total class act.
He was running around with our A group and even lapped our local "fast" guy not once but twice in the second to last session on Thursday. And our fast guy is not slow by any means as he was turning mid 2:30s both days on his GSX-R600.

Gonna throw up some pics in a while when they are all uploaded.
If you haven't had the opportunity to ride Road America...do it. That track not only is full of history but also and incredibly fun couple of days. And while yer there, don't forget to grab some grub at Siebken's in Elkhart Lake.

So, I wait a week to see it on SPEED....two hours of coverage  [thumbsup]

First hour - Mladin sleeps to victory
Second hour - 600s.....

How much influence did Suzuki have on this programming?
