DRKWNG

Went out shooting today with my friend Anne (whackie on here) and had a flippin blast!!  There was a group of us there and one of them had some really interesting toys.  Got to shoot a .50AE Desert Eagle for the first time.  Fun weapon, but I wouldn't want to shoot it all the time.  Can't imagine what it would cost to feed the thing, even when loading your own.  Today was also the best session I have ever had with my Kimber.  Not really sure which planets lined up for me, but some of them sure did.   [thumbsup]

That's pretty cool.

Colt didn't make many of those did they?

It is a Colt, says so on the slide.

The "Ace" line was all .22 conversions for the Colt .45s -- made by Colt.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Im not saying it isn't a colt (as you said, it says so on the slide)

I just read somewhere that they didn't make many 1911 style pistols in .22 and was looking for confirmation . . .

actually, that's not correct. The ACE pistols came as complete guns, Colt also sold conversion kits not marked Ace that you could put on pretty much any 1911.

here's a pic of a conversion.

here's an article that goes into more detail

http://www.sightm1911.com/lib/history/colt_ace.htm

btw, not that many Ace's were made, although I don't know the actual production numbers.

here's a pic of the other side, note that the s/n begins with SM, which is the designation for Service Model, Ace...

Whats the reasoning behind deleting the sn?

I'd guess privacy issues...

it's never a good idea to publish serial numbers. BTW, it's not stolen. I'm not a thief.

He was kidding.

So, why is it not a good idea to publish serial numbers.  I posted pics of the 1911 Sistema I recently bought and the number is in the pics.  Nobody told me I should edit it out. . .

I absolutely understand that.

It was a joke...which is why I used an emoticon.

Sorry if you thought I meant anything else.
