We don't use shotguns in CQB in the Military. Period. Only as a breaching tool.

That would be Afghanistan.

Well, I guess parts could be sort of similar........

Good luck to him and a safe return.

A good friend of Tiff's and mine's husband is over there right now. He is a crewchief on a helicopter of some kind.

He should be back in a few months. Not exactly sure when.

Hope your bro gets back from Afghanistan alright, DC.

So yeah, no pics available at the moment... but I have a little collection going.

Handguns:
SIG P232 (.380ACP)
SIG P6/P225 (9x19)
SIG P220 Carry (.45ACP)

Long guns:
Knight .52 Disc Extreme (.52 cal inline blackpowder muzzleloader)
Schmidt-Rubin K-31 (stamped 1942, Swiss, straight-pull bolt, 7.5x55mm)
Bushmaster AR-15 ("A2 Shorty AK Carbine"... too many mods to list)

And I have a second Bushmaster stripped lower to build up whenever time/money allows.

My fiancee received a Benelli SuperNova Tactical 12ga as a Christmas gift from me.  (Before any ladies go and kill me for giving her a shotgun for Christmas... she also got a custom-designed engagement ring  ;) )

i bought two of these when the ammo was cheap along with a pallet of the GP11 ammo.  every time i take it to the range, i am amazed at the workmanship and quality of the rifle.

i looked at a sharpshooter version, with the diagonally mounted scope and rangerfinder iron sights -- $4 grand.  yowsa.  for a bolt gun!  but so beautiful.

that green ring on your GP11 is lard, fyi.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Ah... I see you are a fan of the same gift giving theory as my older brother: never give a gift to someone that you can't borrow back and use yourself!!! [laugh] Hey, it's true, he does it!

Then again a friend gave his wife a "Dust Buster" hand vac for house work. It was years ago, either Christmas or Birthday. He's still living that one down!

I have heard about the AA-12 and my son and I saw this clip on Discovery a while back. A Discovery channel plug is all well and good but for those out there in the service (or freshly out) and have the inside scoop is there any grumblings about this being adopted at all by any branch? Has it ever gone through any tests for evaluation? The finned "grenade" rounds are kinda cool! Would love to have a handful of those on the next wild hog hunt!! [laugh]

AA-12. World's deadliest shotgun!

nothing like this has been adopted as any official weapon by any US branch

the AA12, USAS12 and the Pancor are all reasons the "Destructive Device" category was expanded to include those shotguns.  too much of a good thing, I guess.

Basically the same as a Saiga 12 but in select fire configuration?

I googled the USAS12 and apparently Daewoo makes it. They make the beast with two backsing make everything!!!!!

AA12 is not used because of the lethality. Potential for close quarter friendly fire is immense and you would need to find the most mentally stable person in the whole outfit to carry it. Imagine a guy going ape shit with that thing. Scary doesn't even start to describe it.

being on the receiving end of buckshot or a 12 ga slug isn't much worse than beinb on the receiving end of 5.56 burst fire

reading the USMC's specifications for a Combat Shotgun, they clearly did NOT want a box magazine or drum type feed, and wanted the ability to manually cycle it as necessary.

a tube magazine allows the user to insert ammo as needed or to change it on the fly.  tube mag also doesn't need to be carried or add additional weight to the pack.

Good point. Getting hit with multiple rounds out of anything is bad juju. The gun is interesting none the less. I wish the "naked" pictures of it were more clear in the vid and I would have liked to see it field stripped to see if that was easy or a pain in the ass. Sure it's lethal as shit but is it any more lethal than anything else a well trained US soldier or Marine carries in combat? Doubt it. Thanks for the input. My son wanted to know if our troops carried it yet.

the Atchison AA12 is patented and you can look up the schematics on the USPTO website.  it's a fairly standard gas operated, tilting bolt mechanism, like many rifles (FAL, SKS, etc)
