If you love your bike, set it free.

probably high-sided.

Happy 44th, old man.

Actually, I'm just hijacking this thread so I can post more trivia- I didn't feel like starting another.  In any case, it will eventually be KK's birthday.

Since I am getting antsy about getting back to ABQ in April, I started perusing events calendars looking for some interesting live music, etc. (FWIW, I very happy to see local acts in small clubs.) I found some interesting upcoming happenings.

April 7-16 is Albuquerque Beer Week. It seems there will be special emphasis on local breweries. Did someone whisper "pub crawl"?

April 15-17 will see the Albuquerque International Auto Show at the Convention Center. I immediately thought of our beloved transplant from Detroit, Duck-Stew.

Finally, had a conversation with my pal Frank who lives up in Ithaca, NY. He's the guy with whom I rode though the Blue Ridge down to Georgia in 2010.  I invited him to come and  spend a little time in ABQ next month. I said we may even be able to arrange the loan of a bike. He then informs me that he's thinking of shipping his 916 out there and leaving it with me (which means one of you all). He'd really like to sell it, but I think he just wants to get it out of his site. I'm going to double-check in a few days to see it he's serious.
Nobody said that I did. Everyone says that I would.

Odd spot for the conversation, but I kinda get your logic, Nic.

As to April events, I'm sure we could work something out.  It all sounds fun except for the beer thing.....I hate beer, oddly enough.  I'd love to organize a ride south to HWY 191 and the surrounding environs.  Sounds like the kind of thing an eastern boy might like (being an eastern boy, 'n all, I can relate).  I've never been down there, but I hear it's great!

On the 916, I'd be willing to look at it depending on what model it is.  I lean toward the earlier examples, personally, like '95 with copper fairing rivets.  I like the early decals, too.

I'm still waiting for 916 details. I'm trying to convince Frank to ship it out & come out himself so he can hang & ride with us. And, maybe get lucky & find a buyer.
