Try dragging your face down the street at 25 after falling from 5'+. Sorry, 100% agree with Dave...

Its been a while since I was down, but the last time I ended up face down.  My helmet took the fall for me.  I prefer not having my face get turned into hamburger meat if I can avoid it.  The cool factor means little when you look like a ghoul after a wreck.

Agreed. To each thier own, but it only takes one time, one accident, one careless driver in a car, to teach the lesson on why full face helmets are so insisted upon on this forum. Really, no one will bash anyone for what they really prefer (....well maybe a little), but it's just out of the lessons that many of us have learned and not wanting to see anyone be injured so badly that we all insist on them so strongly. There's certainly a certain amount of assumed risk that we all take in everything that we do - the road that you choose may not be the same as others, but it is your road.

Ride safe no matter what you wear and always love what you do.  [thumbsup]

I have a coupleof open-faced helmets.  A Mini Momo and a Laura Smith.  They're really the same helmet, with just different cosmetic touches and I like them both.

any highways or main roads and ill grab the full face no problem,

thank you.

just for the record, do you know what would be REALLY safe? if i built a crash cage around my bike. then i could build it around myself. i could add two wheels for stability and call it a car. (patent pending)

the point is that riding a motorcycle is inherently dangerous and we all have to decide how much risk we can mitigate, and how much we are willing to accept. I said that a 3/4 would be a 1% of the year helmet. in fact its cooled down here so much that i no longer need one, but i will be picking up a crom or nexx next july. and i would never consider wearing it on any road that i can go fast enough to actually move air through a full face.

my intent was to discuss gear, not bash everyone who doesnt ride atgatt. i said that i expected flaming, and after a few posts i addressed it and gave the nod. but do we really need to hear 6  posts from each person going on and on? i guess my "beating a dead horse" joke went on deaf ears. (or eyes)

anyways i dont want to harp. thank you to everyone who discussed helmets in this thread
thank you to everyone who respected my, and many many other riders right to decide what gear to wear when
and thank you to everyone else for having concern about my safety and the safety of other riders (i believed you the first time, but i still appreciate it)

I have an AGV dragon as one of my 4 lids. I rarely wear it due to me being afraid to bash my face on pavement with it.

When I do wear it, it gets a lot of  [thumbsup]. People just seem to love it. I have to admit I thought it was pretty cool too. Was only 90 bucks. AGV is a reputable brand too.

The visor does little to protect the eyes from wind, its a good way to keep yourself under 40mph.

The pic of the monster helmet in the op is mine.  The post expired but if you or any one else is still interested in it pm me an offer.  I'll sell it cheap, still in the box.
