So after nearly a week waiting for new clutch push rod seals, I pick up my bike this morning. A little red and dusty, but at least most of the oil and grease covering it had disappeared. I decided to run a few errands and then grab a bite to eat.

I normally leave parking spots for the cars, but as there were plenty free, i grabbed one. Smack bang in the middle - ie. at least a couple of metres from the cars at both ends. I checked to make sure that I was well away from the car in front in case it was a 4WD, but it just some small thing. I also made sure the bike was leaning well into the wind, so that it wouldn't get blown over in the strong winds today.

So, go have a bite, come out 20mins later...bike on the ground. I'm thinking f'n driver, but maybe, just maybe the wind was too strong. Pick the bike up, minor damage and sure enough a note stuck in my pipe. Some nice passerby witnessed the car knocking over my bike and grabbed the number plate for me - just 1 missing letter, but car description. What makes people think that they can just damage other people's things and not give a shit ? Just fess up, no biggie, I'd understand, but to just run away, you're a make the beast with two backsing prick.

OK, feeling better now. Guess I just call up insurance and explain the situation or worth reporting to the cops ?

Crappy people who think it's okay to damage things and leave.
I'd report it to the cops first with the plate and description, get a report # then let Insurance know.
If the person gets tracked down they can pay your excess and theirs to have you bike fixed.

Freakin' useless people who don't know where their cars end.....

Jukie

yep Ivan report to local station, as the insurance company will want a report.

Surly It can be only 1 of 26 number plates that matches the car description, the cops should be able to find it easy  [thumbsup]
If I wasn't who i was, I wouldn't be who I am !

No need to lie about it.

Nice that someone took the effort to note the details ... unless it was just their ex-wife's rego details.

On a related note I came down Sussex St earlier and there were three bikes together who may have just had a Bex as they were all lying down ... I'd suggest victims of the wind. But in a row of dozens of bikes it could have been carnage.
Believe post content at your own risk.

Tell the cops. And I hope they ping the knobhead.  I hate cowards like this.  They obviously have no understanding of how we feel about our bikes.  I've seen people ding others cars in carparks so many times but I still get pissed off by it.

Yellow Meanie

Oh mate, that is not good. I would be really pissed off  >:(
Report it for sure.

I was driving my Sierra down the highway yesterday and was literally "bullied" off the road by not one, but two B-Double's.
I got their plates and even took a couple of photos.

Today I walked into the local  [leo] station with a written statement and the photos on a disc. ;)

Spider

yep, go to the boys in blue....I once got hit by a car and got 5 of the 6 letters and the description. It was enough....did the witness leave their name and number?

and....sorry for your damage....that just blows...what's damaged? worth the insurance, can we help?

Sorry Mostro, You've got every right to be annoyed.

Recently had a car do a 'U' turn on top of me. Got their details but they have since done a runner. Lucky my insurance co. has come good.

Whats really pissing me off is that I'm totally tense in traffic now. I'm OK when its just me, the bike and the open road. But I just can't enjoy city riding anymore. I've tried taking the bike to work (instead of the cage), taking the busiest roads and carving up the traffic to get over my nerves but it hasn't worked. I still think every car is going to suddenly change lanes & wipe me off the road. Maybe time will sort this one out?

Hope the perp. comes good with the $ for you.

That sucks Wayne - at least I'll just be nervous parking my bike - but then I always was anyway when near cars. How much bloody room do I need to leave ?

I think a bit of time on the road and some nice rides out of the city might help u out. City rides can just be too stressful.

hmmm, now thatI've got the bike back I'll be measuring up the 'broken' lever now !! you still got em ??  ;)

headlight, pipes, brake lever, bar ends all scratched. Bars may be bent. I need to check the left hand side too - see where the car made contact.

Ivan, that sucks, and good to hear that the police will assist in being proactive to assist..

It's amazing how much damage can be done with a stationery fall over. Regardless, it's disheartening when you witness such gutless behaviour, let alone be a victim of it.

I'm surprised there's no tank ding in the package.... Let us know if you need some bits or pieces, I'm sure we've all got some spare shit in the garage (or better still talk to Vince, Matty or Spider - they're likely to have both shit and good things!)

mattyvas

Yep we three are the OzMo's spare parts bin.
I have a shed cupboard full of it, including 2 other seats.

roy-nexus-6

Sorry to hear about your bike being tipped. >:(

I hope you report it to the police, and that they take action. Or you can provide your insurance company with the details - they are pretty tenacious when it comes to tracking people down.

People like this annoy the hell out of me. PM with the rego details and description if you want - I may be able to organize something.
