Nice find Brian.  I've actually seen that one in person.  It'd be a great bike for anybody for sure  [thumbsup]

It's got a salvage title. At least this one you can go see in person  [thumbsup]

"...involved in a low speed fall appx 15 - 20 mph..."

I'd be seriously concerned about the possibility of a bent frame on that one.  Plus, there's no mention of The Red Key  :-[ Anyway, would an insurance company total the bike with JUST the damage shown?  Shifts me back towards the bent frame idea...

Just my .02 cents.

The newer bikes don't have a red key (at least the 1098's don't), but I don't know what year they changed that.
Prolly a good one for "Ask Hiero" thread  [laugh]

Jeez, you'd think they'd at least just take that windscreen off and maybe replace the headlight before they put it up. Hmmm. I'll ponder for awhile.

My 2006 SC1000 came with 2 black and 1 red key.  [thumbsup]

While on the topic of that ebay bike with a salvage title, I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with buying a bike with a salvage title, and/or a rebuilt title.  What are the rammifications in TX owning a bike with a salvage title, or just titling one you buy from out of state?  Has anyone here ever done it?  Also, I'm guessing that there are probably some challenges/limitations on getting insurance on a bike with a salvage or rebuilt title - which might make it a challenge to legally using the bike as a street bike?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Thanks!

My '99 BMW K bike has a "rebuilt" title. It's no problem putting the title in your name, either salvage or rebuilt.
It still has to pass inspection, but that's just blinkers, lights, horn, tread depth, etc...
If it has a "salvage" title, you can fill out a form with receipts & stuff proving you have done the repairs, then you can move up to a "rebuilt" title.
I've had full coverage on the bike (Comp/Collision) since I bought it.
It generally lowers resale value, though.
Easy squeezy [thumbsup]

One more thing; before I bought my 620, I ended up looking at a bike over there at that dealership in Grand Prarie that is listing the salvage title bike.  All of their bikes at that time - and they had about 20 - were in poor to fair condtion.  Most, if not all were crashed or rashed in one way or another, and the prices even then seemed kinda high for what they were...

Didn't inspire much confidence.  Of course, your results may vary  ;D

I think I have heard that begining in 2008 Ducati dumped the whole red/black key thing as a money saving issue. In the past if you lost the keys (red key especially) you were totally screwed. I was told you would have to spend $2500+ on a whole new instrument pod and associated key/ignition switch hardware. :P I may have the exact specifics wrong but Brian Sharp (ex of AMS) told me that in person and he wouldn't lie. He spent 10 minutes on the subject when I got my 2005 999.

Hummm....  in 2008 Ducati "dumped" Pierre (Okay, reportedly under HIS initative, but still, he IS gone)
With Pierre in control the RED key came into power.  Pierre left -it left.

I have a friend* who is REALLY into conspiracies who would easily see the connection between...
RED keys, the numbers encoded in them, and the evil dark lord SATAN.

..Hey, look what he did to the Supersport.   It's possible.

* ...actually, I think my Mom would see it too, but she does spend a little too much time in church.

Willing to travel or ship?

There's a 2007 SC1000S on ebay in Milwaukee.  800 miles on bike, clear title, ends around 11:00PM tonight - no reserve and bid is currently only $6,200.

The SC1000S's don't seem to be holding their value too well (based on what I've seen on ebay over the last few weeks).  Good news for anyone looking for a 2007+ Sport Classic.  Bad news if you're looking to buy for investment purposes.  :-\  If previous 1000S auctions are any indicators, this one probably will sell for under $7000.

Yeah, I've been watching it. Seems like a nice one. Thought I wasn't really looking at the S and I'm not really a red bike kinda guy. I'm still watching the auction. We'll see how it pans out.

UPDATE: Already at $7200. These people don't get how to use eBay do they? :)
