When did SF city parking go up?

It previously cost $0.25/hr and now costs $0.70/hr. The change in rate not only affects the wallet but since the meters draw money out in 25 cent increments, it takes a lot lot longer to fill up the meter with the daily rate.

On that note, if anyone knows of a "max" button or something rather than just standing there watching it count up, I'd appreciate it.

It went up just recently -- July 1, 2009.  You can buy a parking card so you don't have to carry change.

Yep. Went up earlier this year, and they're just getting around to the last of the meters.

Lemme guess: you park across from the Federal Reserve building downtown? They just did those meters yesterday.

The rate is ridiculous. At $.070/hr, that's roughly $140 a month...for street parking. I could probably find a private garage for that kind of money if I were down here every day. I've started bicycling because it's cheaper.

Hey, where do you get those parking cards?  I don't park in the city much, but when I go to Desmoto I have to carry a 5lb sack of quarters.

Maybe put this in the local resources thread? Or maybe it's there?

We've gone from 50 cents a day parking (about 5-6 years ago) to $6 a day today

A factor of 12  :o

Completely absurd.

Especially considering I pay $90 a month for public garage parking (or $71.50 + the 20% tax  [roll])
I own several motorcycles. I have owned lots of motorcycles. And have bolted and/or modified lots of crap to said motorcycles...

$6 a day works out to about $120 a month...

Sometimes Scott lets me pull into the MSF training spot inside the building if I'm going to be there for a while un/loading.   [thumbsup]

The correct question is, who do we shoot?
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room

Are you in Potrero?  You should contact Sophie Maxwell.  She is your supervisor.

The rates in my neighborhood were still a quarter/hour as recently as 2 weeks ago.

They haven't hit all the meters yet for the increase. And there are different rates for different zones.

shit, that's better than chicago.

there are so few metered spots in downtown, you are forced to park in a lot that 22$ a day (14$ if you get in before am).

I have never lived there, but then there a bunch. Was just there a few weeks ago and drove.

Parking was 25$ for anything 8-24 hours or something ridiculous like that.

but when you look at the percentage change you guys have experienced.......yeah, that is huge

Heard last night that they're going to close down a few blocks of Market to test it out as ped/bike only... Which is fine with me.  No one in their right mind drives Market on purpose and there's never been any parking there anyways.
