Has anyone tried P90X?

Keep hearing a lot of good (i.e. brutal) things about it....

i have a couple of friends who did it. they loved the results but hated the intensity. lol

i have a buddy doing the insanity thing too. we'll see how he feels by the start of the soccer season.

We have the set at home. My wife bought them, then promptly broke her foot during week 2 of the series (I told her there were easier ways to give up working out  [laugh]). As far as workouts...I think they are pretty good. It's not jazzersize...

I would of done the whole series, but I have a big problem with it. It's a huge time commitment...time that I honestly DO NOT have. Six days a week, 1 to 1 1/2 hours a day. I ended up doing the work outs with Nat about 3 times a week, and then I was still doing my running a couple of times a week, too. I'm just not home enough to do six days a week.

If you have the time though, they seem to be great. Just be ready to be sore after the first days workout. It's pretty killer.

I cut out bread and potatoes from my diet and have lost almost 30 lbs since Jan.  No real working out, just some walking around when the weather is nice.

I had already cut soda and sweet tea years ago and have been maintaining the same weight.  Now I do pizza or a burger once a week but other than that its vegies and meat.  Not really atkins, if there is a sweet sauce or dressing I still eat it.  Big thing for me is no bread and potatoes.

Also no deserts every night.  I have a killer sweet tooth and if I have a cookie I'll eat the whole jar.  So I cut that out all together and maybe have a slice of pie or cake once a week instead of pizza.

I think I would rather die first than cut breads and potatoes.

But very happy for you that it has worked!!!    [thumbsup]    [beer]

That is what I do too.

The killer for me was pasta and bread.

I'd eat it all...no matter how much there was.

I'm down about 30 lbs too...

feel great.

When I got the diabetes news, I cut out bread, pasta, potatos and rice.  Lost 60 lbs across about 2 years.  The first month is hard, after that its not too bad at all.

Probably one of the better things that have happened to me.  Lately though, with the same diet and a solid exercise program, I have gained some weight back and am having wild bloodsugar fluctuations - driving me nuts.  I think my metabolism just goes straight to burning protein instead of fat so I work out to build muscle mass to burn more blood glucose and my body breaks down the muscles to make the glucose I'm trying to get rid of.   [bang]

I do a half hour to 45 minutes of kettlebells 3 days a week, two days a week I walk two miles, do 100 pushups, wall squats.  In my spare time, I blacksmith and cut wood, so I'm pretty active.  When it gets a little warmer here, I might switch to kettlebells two days a week and start running again 3 days a week and try to get a evening of kayaking in once a week or so.  I usually think
I'll take out the kayak in the evening, then I look at the Monster in the garage, put on my leathers and do that instead.  Gotta have a little fun! [Dolph]

When I ride regularly . . . I loose weight, but I've notice is more of a 'liquid' weight that I loose . . . .

This may sound crazy,

You haven't started chewing a different kind of gum have you? Or bought some new sugar free snack? Diabetics really have to watch out for things with sugar alcohols in them...which happen to be the sweeteners they use for sugar free gums, and various other sugar free foods. The alcohols break down in the body, and when they do, they release a later dose of sugar. So you may of eaten something, been fine for an hour or so, then get a sugar spike.
