When i got broked in Nov I was at 186lbs

After being a lump for the better part of 5 months i'm at 214lbs and can barely crank out 10 pushups.

I will be rebuilding myself. more upper body to go with the legs.
also, i have found planks. they suck, but damn do they show your weak spots. I'm at 1:05 straight and 30secs for sides. I hope to have doubled that time by June.

The main bloodsugar issue I'm having is getting up in the morning with a fairly high number after 12 hours of fasting, working out for a half hour or more, checking my bloodsugar an hour after I'm done with the workout and my bloodsugar is up 100 points with no intake except a couple sips of filtered water.  I eat some breakfast and two hours later, I've dropped 100 points.  Those wild swings get to you.   My A1C is right at 7.0 so I don't know what is going on.  It does this regardless of bloodsugar medication - I've tried it with and without.

As far as body strengthening, I have probably gotten more benefit from kettlebells than anything I have done.  Start real light and get good tecnhique before upping the weight.  I started out with a 15 lb bell in October and I just stepped up to a 50 lb.  Super core strengthening.  45 minutes with the 50 lb bell sucks, but I like the results.  I'm probably stronger now then I have been in the last 20 years - I'm 5 months short of the half century mark.

I keep a close eye on the sugar alcohols in foods.  I eat very little processed food.  I live out in the sticks and we have a large garden.  We do a lot of preserving and pretty much eat what we raised, grew or hunted.  Even made some tofu from soybeans off the farm.  Worked ok!
This isn't a dress rehearsal for life - this is it!

I cut out bread and potatoes from my diet and have lost almost 30 lbs since Jan.  No real working out, just some walking around when the weather is nice.

I had already cut soda and sweet tea years ago and have been maintaining the same weight.  Now I do pizza or a burger once a week but other than that its vegies and meat.  Not really atkins, if there is a sweet sauce or dressing I still eat it.  Big thing for me is no bread and potatoes.

Also no deserts every night.  I have a killer sweet tooth and if I have a cookie I'll eat the whole jar.  So I cut that out all together and maybe have a slice of pie or cake once a week instead of pizza.

This is how I eat as well and have been doing it for about 15 years, with the exception of a two year break in which I gained about 40lbs. until I got straightened out and back on track. Now it's an in vogue diet with a whole historically dubious story surrounding it as a marketing tool, otherwise known as the "paleolithic diet". Back before the days of the paleo nonsense we just called it "the dead animals and green stuff diet".

The first month is hard, after that its not too bad at all.

Agreed, the first bit was torture and now it's no big deal.  I still crave a good sandwich and it makes it difficult to find food because I work on the road.  (no more sandwich shops or hotdogs from street vendors)

I've read somewhere that every 5lbs you lose is equal to a 1HP gain, soo I plan on gaining 7HP. Getting the motivation to go for a run instead of a ride is the hard part.

And, according to Oprah's Dr. Quack, every 4 hp you add that way translates into another 1" of manhood.

I weighed in at 183 this morning.  I'm planning on getting down to 128 and staring my new "acting" career.

Well my 4 month plan did not go as well as hoped, I'm down 33lbs since Jan 1st. Hoped to be 47. New goal is 180 by end of August. Which is another 34lbs in 4 months. Definitely will take some hard work.

I hit the gym 3 or 4 times a week in Nov and Dec and lost 12 pounds. Then I stopped going and gained it all back. Getting a second dog that walks VERY fast has now taken 5 off in just over 2 weeks!  Back to the gym too. It is me time away from the dogs.

I do nothing, eat 2 breakfasts, one coffee break, one big lunch, one snack in the afternoon, two sandwiches and a bowl of cereal at night . .. lost 20lbs in 2 months and they aint coming back . . . only exercise, walk the dogs 2xday

Ducati is the pretty girl that can't walk in heels without stumbling. I still love her.

So...

After 18 months of sitting around and not exercising, I started a run/walk program in March.

Our goal 5K is coming up in a few weeks.

So far so good.  Overall I feel a lot stronger and less sloth like.

The # on the scaled hasn't budged, but my clothes are fitting different.   [thumbsup]

I have also signed up for a half marathon training program to keep me motivated.

That goal race is August 31.

I'm looking forward to the mental relief that I get through running.
