The couch potato get fit thread

a'ight folks, it's time to kick this Mr. Miyagi style. I'm moving - an opportunity for me to get fit one box and 2.5 flights of stairs at a time. That's right, I'm going to move as much as I can, all by myself.  I'll also move the big items, like the piano, but with  help.  (I don't have that kind of muscle, or coordination for that matter, to attempt the big stuff by myself)

Box up
Box down
Box up
Box down

I admit, this is a recipe for a workout, injury, or disaster ...but I think I can pull it off.

I already packed the scale, so don't know where I am weight wise, but if I can simply move all my stuff I'll consider this exercise in snails pace moving to be a success

It was great meeting "The Dude" at long last.   She brought us some epic beer.

I think you may be in danger of "winning." I had zero flights of stairs to go up/down for my move, but between all the packing, loading, unloading, unpacking, sorting, organizing, shelf building, desk building, cabinet building, and putting stuff away I'm down almost 10 pounds from my initial weigh in.

I'm sure the two meals a day and not drinking helped quite a bit. Either way, I found another belt notch.  [beer]

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

Le Pirate

I'm doing alright at this point...hovering in between 4-6 lbs below starting point. That however is about to change. I leave Sunday night to go on a week long vacation ( yessss  ;D)...then back for 2 days and I leave again for a week long work trip (noooo  [bang]).

We'll see if those 4-6 pounds stay gone over the next two weeks, but I'm not making any promises  [drink] [drink] [drink]

Um...I hate to break it to you...but YOU are in danger of winning.  You're already down 10, only 4 more to go!  I'm a long way behind you.
Good work Buckethead!
[thumbsup]

Good luck Le P, I know how travel throws everything into disarray.  Hope you can still get some enjoyable walks in, best way to wind down a day

I lost the 14 pounds already, but the goal now is to keep it off. I carried 28 pounds of dog food over my shoulder for 7 city blocks.  I now need a beer!  [beer]

OK ...

this week's weight in, 192lbs = 8 lbs in  3 weeks = 2.66lbs/week so that means that my goal is quite aproachable ... 185lbs by August 31st ...

This equals to 8 more weeks = 21.28lbs which would make me over the limit so I need to pull back the week I'll be in Belize working ...

In reality, TBJ, I only need 7 more pounds ... I see those gaskets in my hands  ....

I only need 4 more for the 14, but another 4 for my goal of 180...  :-*

I find it disturbing that you're imagining me in a sauna, never mind the teletubbie aspect of it

Down to 207 from a high of 215. Been working out in the mornings, which is hilarious, as I'm not a morning person.

My poor former thread-violated so.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

Okay, I'm gonna have to go ahead and bow out "gracefully."

I...

joined a gym.

I know, I know. I just got way too serious.

BURN HIM! CAST HIM OUT! SALT HIS FIELDS!

Whatever.

I can go for a plod around the 'hood if I need some cardio. I just have a few other areas I'd like to work on that require weights. As an added bonus, it's 2 blocks from my house and open 24/7, so I can wander in while "lightly toasted" at 2 in the morning, stumble along on the treadmill for an hour or so, then pass out in a tanning bed and wake up looking like I got set on fire and stomped out.

Also, I've fallen into a stack of tasty local brews.  Breckenridge Brewing Co's Vanilla Porter is... mmmm....  [drink]

I guess you missed the TOSAT post where I got sabotaged by the Oreo Cookie Creme Cake in the Teacher's Lounge the other day... ;)

Plus, I don't run around all day with them... They have a nice long nap after lunch. ;D

My new home gym got delivered about a month ago.  I purchased a semi load of 8' oak logs from about 8" to 20" in diameter.   My goal is to cut up the load with my crosscut saws and split it with the mall.  I'm through about 20% of the load so far.  What has pissed me off is that my weight has went up.  6 years ago I found out that I had diabetes and I changed my diet and started walking twice a day.  I lost 63 lbs but now I've put 10 back on.  Screwy damn metabolism [bang]
This isn't a dress rehearsal for life - this is it!

muscle weighs 3 times more than fat.
splitting wood alone will give you one hell of a workout.
go flex in the mirror for a bit and see if there's much of a difference.  [thumbsup]
